Rocco

I pulled up to Kris's house and waltzed inside, only to have her pounce on me. I pushed her from me as she looked at me in confusion. "Yeah, this arrangement isn't working anymore."

She crossed her arms. "Why not?"

"Because you bore me." I didn't bother to look at her.

She purses her lips together. "Who is she?"

I looked at her, not revealing anything. "I'm ending things because I'm bored with you. Whoever I hook up with is none of your damn business."

"Oh?"

"Yeah." My answer was firm and to the point. Why beat around the bush? Kris was only a quick lay, and that was it.

"This isn't right, Roc."

"I don't care if you think this isn't right. I told you in the beginning how it would be. You agreed with it. It's over." I shrugged, turned, and walked away.

She yelled from her front door. "Like hell it is! You'll pay for this!"

As I got on my bike, she slammed her front door shut. I didn't care. I was done with her stupid ass. She was a booty call but wanted a fucking relationship. I scoffed at the thought. She was nothing but white trash looking for a way out of her pathetic existence. It wasn't me.

I took off, heading back to Elise's. The less Kris knew about Elise, the better. I couldn't have her meddling in my affairs, or I would beat the hell out of her. I didn't care.

Elise

I sat on my bed, awaiting a familiar roar. I didn't know why I had grown attached to Rocco. It's not like we had anything in common. Hell, we didn't even get along most time.

As I sat there, my door opened with my dad appeared from the other side of it.

He walked over and took a seat next to me on the bed. "Elise, we need to talk."

Great. Another talk about how badly I screwed up.

"Look, I know what I said upset you but what happened that night upset me. You disobeyed us and got yourself into a mess. If Richard's boy hadn't shown up, who knows what would have happened."

"I know, and I hate that I didn't listen to you. I also hate that out of all people, Rocco has been helpful." I scrunched my nose.

He chuckled. "Yeah, Rocco set me straight on a few things. I guess I've been so worried about you getting mixed up with the wrong people that I didn't realize you need to make your own mistakes. I didn't want something to happen to you as it did with your mother."

"It's hard to know I had a mother I never really knew. I don't even know what she looks like." I sighed.

It was true. I never knew much about my biological mother except what my dad told me.

Dad leaned over and pulled his wallet from his back pocket. He opened it, pulled something out, and handed a picture to me. I took it and looked at it in stunned silence.

I took it and looked at it in stunned silence

"That's your biological mother. I met her one night when she came into the bar with a few friends. She caught my attention, and we talked. Every time I saw her, I got to know her more. She was funny, smart, and a good girl. I was smitten with her and ended up in a relationship with her. Since she differed from the women I had met, I didn't want to drag her into my lifestyle."

I didn't know what to say. I would have never expected my dad to be with a woman like this.

"We fell in love, but it didn't last. I found out she had taken off. After that day, I never saw her again. I had a beef with another club. They found her, stormed her house, and killed her."

I sat there, stunned. I never knew all the details about how my parents met or how my mom died. I didn't know much about it, but the bare minimum.

"Elise, I left that lifestyle because of you. Because of me, an incredible woman died, and an amazing girl didn't get to know her."

I offered my dad a small smile.

Sometimes, we don't realize how important we are to people until they show us. My dad was nothing like the bad boy he used to be. He was just my dad.

"So, care to fill me in on what's going on between you and Rocco?" He inquired.

"He's annoying and arrogant. He calls me names and teases me. He's jerky."

My dad chuckled. "Or maybe he met his match." He gave me a look I knew all too well.

"Or maybe this is some weird parallel universe, and I got sucked into it." I sighed as a familiar roar pulled up. Dad gave me a knowing look as I shook my head.

Rocco

I turned off my bike and got off before making my way to Elise's front door. Most chicks I wouldn't give two shits about, but this one was different. She wasn't like most chicks and didn't bend easily. God knows she didn't bend at all.

I would offend most girls but not Elise. She would fight back, which was what I liked about her.

Then that night happened, and I wanted to kill the bastard because of it. She might have made a bad judgment call, but he knew what he was doing. If a chick isn't willing to give it up freely, then what's the point? Why take something that didn't belong to you? To me, it was pointless.

I knocked on the door.

Her mom greeted me. "Well, hello, Rocco. It's good to see you again."

"Mrs. Harper, I was here a few hours ago."

"Well, as I see it, you should always welcome people when they return." She smiled.

I learned with Elise's mom that this was the type of person she was. You can't fake that.

Jax came downstairs, and I looked at him. "Abby, can you give me a moment with Rocco?"

"Sure thing. Would anyone like refreshments?" She asked.

"I'd ask for a beer, but I doubt Jax would appreciate me drinking with being underage and all," I replied.

Jax rolled his eyes.

She laughed. "Rocco has a great sense of humor." She turned and walked away.

I looked at Jax as he gave me an annoyed look. "You got a nice wife with an equally nice ass."

He narrowed his eyes at me and clenched his jaw. "Be careful because I will put you through a wall."

I smirked.

"Rocco, don't be an ass." Elise stood at the top of the stairs with her arms crossed.

"Well, I know I have a nice ass, but that's beside the pointed," I retorted.

She rolled her eyes at me. "You're also cocky, but I doubt you have a big one, you dick."

I stood there while her dad snickered. "Care to find out?"

"Doubtful since no one can find it. I think I have a magnifying glass in my room. Do you need it?"

Her dad snickered.

I shook my head and walked up the stairs. "Why you got to bust my balls?"

"Can't bust something you don't have." She shrugged.

Her dad roared with laughter. The shit I put up from this chick. Something told me it would be worth it, but someone would cause more problems than I needed.
