"I gotta go back." I stated firmly.

"But we are almost there!" Seally argued. We had been walking for hours and I was yet to catch a glimpse of any castle. On top of that we had wandered pretty deep into the woods and although I wasn't scared I also wasn't stupid and knew it could be dangerous to go any further.

"We need to go back. My dad will be home in a few hours and he will be very upset if I'm not there." Seally pouted and dug his feet into the ground refusing to move.

"Don't be a kid." I told him and he smirked at me as if he found the idea amusing. I quickly realized that this kid had no incentive to go back with me but at the same time he wouldn't let me go back alone. If he really was a monster than he would be fine if I left him here but I doubt he would let me seeing as I had no idea which way was the way back.

"How about I make you a deal?" I said, catching his attention. "I don't know exactly who or what you are or where you live but its obvious we aren't going to reach this castle today so why don't you come back to town with me and I'll let you stay at my house tonight with me dad. After that we can leave early the next morning and then we should have enough time to reach your castle. Are you okay with that?"

Seally paused as if considering the idea.

"Do I get to sleep in your room?" He asked.

"Sure."

"In the same bed?"

"No. I have a blow up mattress you can use."

"I'm suddenly not as interested."

"Fine." I said. "Then I'm just gonna leave you here." And then before he could say anything I turned and walked away leaving him to desperately run to catch up to me.

"Okay! Okay! I'll come back to your house." He said as he settled into a walk next to me. I smiled at him and patted his head.

"Good boy."

Time skip:

A few hours later and we made it back to my house minutes before my dad pulled up and suddenly I realized that I had no way to explain Seally to my dad. He wouldn't like it if I just told him the truth that a monster was spending the night.

"What should I do?" I muttered, more to myself than to Seally. "How am I going to explain this to dad?"
"Don't worry about it." Seally said. "I'll just hide out in your room." And then before I could argue he ran to my room and shut the door behind him just as my dad came in.

"Why are you waiting at the door?" Dad asked as he put down his briefcase and loosened his tie.

"I saw your car pull up and decided to greet you." I said hastily as I grabbed his stuff and took it to his room, glancing briefly at my door as I passed. The next few hours went by normally as I sat with my dad for dinner. He ate while reading the newspaper, which I had always found odd since the paper was already a few days old.

"Just catching up." He told me as he flipped through the page. I tried to behave normally and eat with a straight face but I kept glancing towards my room. How on earth would I ever explain to my dad that I had brought a monster into the house?

After dinner I was washing the dishes in the kitchen while dad watched tv in the living room next door when out of nowhere I heard a noise from my room.

"What was that?" My dad asked as he turned down the volume. I held my breath hoping he would hear nothing but silence but then there was the noise again.

"What is that?" He said as he got up and headed to my room. I clenched the dish sponge as I prepared for all hell to break loose.

"Y/n? Could you come here?" He called to me and I sighed and walked over only to see something I wasn't expecting. My dad was standing in my empty room with a little black dog in his hands, the monster dog from yesterday.

"What is this?" He asked. He hadn't noticed the green snake eyes.

"A dog."

"And why is it here?"

I had to think fast. "I'm pet sitting for a friend."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I'm sorry." I said, putting on the innocent charm. "I was worried you would be mad and wouldn't let me. He will only be here for a few days and I promise he wont get in your way."

My dad looked at me and sighed as he handed me the animal.

"Its fine." He said. "But you have to take care of it. Make sure it doesn't pee in the house."

"I will take good care of him. I promise." I told him.

"I'll go finish the dishes while you take care of the dog. Don't let it pee in the house!"

"Thanks." I called after him as he left my bedroom and shut the door behind him. I immediately held up the dog and examined its green snake-like eyes.

"You son of a bitch." I muttered. "It was you the whole time." The dog jumped out of my hands and the second it touched the ground there was a puff of smoke and Seally was standing in its place.

"Your welcome." He said with a cheeky smile.
