To say that Peter was embarrassed was an understatement. Even with Stark Tower's state of the art, living room-like elevators, the tension seemed to fill up the rest of the remaining space. Natasha stood next to Peter in the corner of the elevator, arms crossed and glaring at Flash (who was trying to push himself through the opposite corner). At last, the silent curse was broken.
"Okay then!" Charlotte exclaimed. "I know we've gone slightly off track but let's do our best to focus shall we?" Everyone turned towards her, looking as if they had forgotten she was there.
"Let's continue!" She concluded as the elevator doors opened, revealing the R&D labs, bustling with interns rushing about. Charlotte walked through the doors with confidence, weaving through people like it was her second nature. The students, however, shuffled their feet, carrying their haunched figures with apprehension, many even bumping into the interns clumsily. Nevertheless, the class was eventually herded into a comfortable huddle in a less active area and could finally take a good look around them. '
"These are our R&D labs!" She said voice raised over the noise. "Our newest models are thought up here. If it works it then begins the process to get approved by our board-" Her voice morphed into a drone as Peter slowly drifted in and out of reality, losing focus more then once.
The teen didn't find the talk particularly interesting, having taken the tour a few too many times. He tried to listen to what she was saying but at this point, he was pretty worn out.
"Most of our interns work in this section of the building, so almost everyone on this floor has only worked here for one or two years." Just as Peter was sure he was going to fall asleep a loud voice was heard over the students.
"Do you know a Peter Parker?" "Have you met Peter Parker?" "Does Peter Parker work here?" All were questions asked by none other than Flash Thompson. Peter groaned to himself right before feeling a hand on his shoulder.
"Hey man look who got his courage back" Ned sniggered behind him, laughing under his breath about how Flash had reacted to the Black Widow encounter. Speaking of Natasha, the spider-kid looked around him only to find himself no longer in the presence of the spy."Godammit Natasha, always freaking me out," Peter said, shivering as he turned his attention to the drama at hand.
Flash continued to harass the employees, obnoxiously asking every person in a speaking-range if they knew of the teen. The said boy wondered how someone could be so unpleasant. The interns looked at Peter wondering what they should say when a ding sounded and the elevator doors opened. The class turned to see a figure in the doorway, walking towards them with deliberate steps.
The man was huge, an iconic symbol of 'Merica as they knew it. Steve Rogers walked towards the miserable teen, a smile on his face and an unusual glint of mischief in his eyes.
You guys... I just watched a pre-screening of Endgame. I'm not going to write any spoilers. The only thing I want to say is first of all: It's fucking amazing, and second of all: Bring your tissues, it gets pretty emotional.
And on a different note HOLY SHIT. I'm pretty sure we are at 8.2K reads and honestly I'm dying. Your comments are lovely, amazing, hilarious, inspiring, and I don't deserve it (regarding how much I update... oof). ANyWay, I just wanted to say thank you again, all of you, and please enjoy Endgame (;
