The Danish male sighed, he was slowly starting to get a headache from all he chatter around him. Adjusting his top hat he looked up, staring at all the other people dressed up just like him.
Phoenix isn't a huge fan of conventions, growing up in Denmark there weren't many interesting ones to happen in his country and he didn't feel like heading to some place like Germany. His boyfriend, Miles, on the other hand loved conventions, and normally he would go by himself without Phoenix or their two friends Eleanor and Pandora but it was his birthday so how could Phoenix not come?
Speaking of Miles, Phoenix had no idea where he is, one moment he was next to him talking to someone at a booth and the next he was gone. A hour has passed and Phoenix was starting to get worried, and slightly embarrassed, it wasn't like him to dress up, and without his boyfriend he feels so alone and exposed to everyone.
Holding the bag of merch and other stuff he bought for him and his boyfriend the boy started to walk around asking people if they saw an Alice from 'Alices Adventures in Wonderland'. No one saw Miles unless it was when he was with Phoenix and he's starting to worry, first of all he hates these things and now he lost he only other person he went with? Great just his luck at its finest.
The Dane gave up, finding a small sitting area and sitting down, he took out what little money he had with him since he gave most of it to Miles for his birthday and got a small lunch. The anxieties of his missing boyfriend didn't make him that hungry but he hasn't ate since leaving the hotel early that morning.
"Excuse me are you Phoenix?" A voice asked, the said person looked up to see a female around his age standing in front of him, her eyes are heterochromia a blue and a green reminding Phoenix of Miles. She also had a purple highlight in her brunette hair and was dressed in a weird green jacket with red block designs and a giant "55" on the back.
"Uh yes I am? Do I know you?" He asked, eyebrows knitting together in confusion, the girl shook her head,
"No you don't but there's someone looking for you, about this tall-" she referenced with her hand, "eyes like mine and dressed up as Alice from Alice in Wonderland"
"Wait really??" His blue eyes widened, practically falling as he stumbled, standing up from his chair, "you know where Miles is??" He smiled for the first time since he got here, feeling a sense of relief wash over him.
The girl nodded, "Yes! He's at me and my friend's booth, he seemed extremely worried saying it was your first time at a convention and he accidentally left you behind cause he's used to being on his own-" Phoenix sighed at this, "-he was practically on the verge of tears he felt so guilty" she finished explaining, but boy does this girl have a lot of energy, he's starting to wonder if the friend she mentioned was like her and he had to deal with them too, he hoped not saying he isn't a very sociable person but as long as he had his boyfriend back he'll be fine.
"I'm Jackie by the way, nice to meet you" she smiled as she got ready to show him the way back to his beloved. Grabbing the bags and throwing away the forgotten food he followed Jackie through a crowd of people making sure he won't loose the brunette like his life depended on it.
Then he saw him.
At the booth was a taller blonde guy also had an outfit referencing a character but not in full costume. He was wearing a white shirt with a green tie with another weird symbol, he was talking to a smaller boy, wearing a blue dress with a white apron like thing, knee high socks with black flats and a small black bow in his head.
Phoenix has never been happier to see his boyfriend as he was dressed up.
"I'm back!" Jackie called to her friend and Miles, both of them automatically looking up. The Alice ran to Phoenix quickly engulfing the smaller man in his arms. Jackie walked back to her friend who was smiling at the scene.
"Thank you thank you thank you thank you" Miles kept repeating, his head turning to Jackie with a wide smile on his face, his eyes glassy from either crying before or happily crying now, Phoenix wouldn't know as his face was practically hidden in his boyfriend's chest.
He would be lying if he said he wasn't flustered right now cause Miles usually isn't too affectionate cause he gets embarrassed in a way especially in public so this was something the Dane isn't used to.
The Alice finally loosened his grip a bit looking down at his boyfriend who looked back up at him with a small smile, "you worried the crap out of me" Phoenix told him, but made sure to sound jokingly to not make Miles feel even more bad.
"I'm sorry I left you behind" Miles laughed guiltily, rubbing the back of his neck, finally realizing how long he was holding onto Phoenix and let go. His boyfriend was disappointed by the hug ending but that's not what mattered right now.
"It's alright really, you were having fun and me moping around you probably didn't help" he awkwardly laughed, "I'll try to have more fun for your sake" he smiled.
Miles flushed, and nodded letting out a small, "Ok" before hesitantly holding his hand, who Phoenix gladly held back, intertwining their fingers. "Let's look around ok?"
Miles laughed and nodded once more before turning to Jackie and her friend, "thank you so much, I owe you guys one if we meet again"
"No need to thank me" the girl replied, "I would've reacted the same way if I lost Mikey and we're not even dating!" She joked, who the said friend rolled his eyes and nodded.
"More like we both would get lost and never find each other or the exit again" Mikey replied and she nodded in full serious agreement, "we probably would need Hannah or Jonathan with us since they're responsible-" Jackie added. "Aww yeah let's just bring the full carnival next time!"
While the two friends talked about the future plans as Miles and Phoenix were leaving, hands intertwined, happy they were reunited, and hey, he won't admit it but Phoenix is actually starting to enjoy this, maybe he'll come more often.
Who knows when it comes to them two, maybe Phoenix will force their friends to join as well, surely he'll get a black eye from Eleanor but it'll be worth it to see Miles' excitement once more.
