Chapter 21

I woke up to see the dust floating off of my windows sill was illuminated by the sun that shone through it. Today was the day that I would finally get some answers. Yammy was still comfortably snuggled into me from the side. Her light blue and turquoise hair rested behind her. I was guilty for leaving her and the others. I was still there physically but not emotionally. Not since the day that Joel had knocked at our door I had completely shut myself off from the world. That was a mistake.

We got back from the hospital late the previous night so it didn’t surprise me that I was the only one awake at this time. I had to be at the police station by nine and it was already eight. I just hoped that the others woke up in time to be able to go with me. I didn’t think I had the emotional strength to face Levi on my own. I slumped myself down on the barstool in the kitchen and placed my head on my hands. It wasn’t over. I knew it wasn’t over but for now at least I and Joel were safe whilst Levi was locked up. If he did get locked up. Annie wandered up behind me and sat on the stool next to mine. “Hey” I said, wanting to start a conversation. I was desperate for things to go back to how they were before all this happened. She smiled and looked over in my direction. “Hey, what’s up? You look like you are in deep thought” She replied, looking me in the eyes. I decided that I had to be truthful with people now, and maybe it would avoid what happened with me and Annie last time. "Do you think Levi will be punished?" I asked sighing deeply after it. I seriously doubted he would be but if he did I was sure he would probably find a way out of it. Annie shook her head vigorously "No.. attempted murder and keeping you hostage wouldn't have resorted to him being plead not guilty" She said defiantly. It gave me more hope.

At the station my friends were sat behind the glass window that looked into the questioning area so that they could look in on my session with Levi. I heard the steel door slam behind me as loudly as my heart. Two chairs were positioned either side of a table with recording equipment to one end of the table. The door on the other side of the room clicked open and Levi walked through. The evil grin on his face made me shiver. I was glad he had handcuffs on. Not that I thought he would try to hurt me again. Not after where he had ended up. The police that had escorted Levi left and locked the door behind them. Levi placed his elbows on the table in front of him and put his head on his hands. My pulse instantly sped up as he looked in my eyes. I cleared my throat and looked away from his gaze. "Levi" I paused and looked back at him again. " What I want from today is..." I didn't get a chance to finish before he cut me off, "Some answers?" He smiled sweetly but he was anything but that. I nodded shakily and he continued, "Let me tell you this Lizzie, all I ever was to you was kind, caring and loving, but you didn't want it and made me look like the bad guy" He exclaimed innocently placing his hand to his chest as if he was hurt. The anger was burning inside me but I knew I could release it here or now. "Levi, you were never those things to me, you hurt me so many times, threatened me, controlled me" I snarled, leaning closer to him on the table. He leaned in as well which gave me a reason to lean out again. "Hit me with your best questions... See what you can get from me" He laughed but stopped abruptly, as if waiting patiently for my questions. I looked down in my pocket to the questions I had prepared earlier. I reached for them and drew them out of my pocket. I stared intently at the scrawled words but none of them made sense. Levi reached out and steadied my shaking hand. I shot him a death glare and looked back at the paper. "Levi, what did you want from me and why did you threaten me so many times to get it?" My voice wavered as the words came from my mouth. Levi looked amused for some unknown reason. " Threaten you? When did I ever threaten you?" He asked, acting oblivious. This was the last straw "All the time Levi! I got sick of it! I got sick of you" I said and instantly regretted it. Levi's face turned to coal. Without a word he stood up in his chair. My blood ran cold as he approached me. I saw Mitty uncomfortably shuffle on her seat as she watched but the police moved closer towards the doors in case he tried anything. He motioned at the policeman like a teacher did to a naughty child. The police looked confused but stayed put by the door. Levi slowly began to make his way around the table towards me. Kneeling down he brought his lips close to my ear. I felt his warm breath on my ear as he whispered "Just a little tip Lizzie... Never ask questions you will never get an answer for". With that the ten minute timer went off and he was directed back to his holding cell. And as I made my way out the room I noticed that he was right. For the first time... he was actually right.
