Four years past and nothing had changed. The evil wizard Marcus tortured us whenever we disobeyed his orders or when he was bored. There were a few other people he had captured, but they couldn't take the mental, physical, and emotional abuse. They either lost their mind and found a way to kill themselves, were killed by Marcus and his fox, or escaped. Only 3 people had escaped, but they were later found and killed. So, it was only Deacon and I. He was my support system and I was his. We've both had our moments when we almost lost our minds and couldn't take it anymore, but Deacon was there for me and I was there for him. He was all I had. I knew Zianna, our parents, and our other friends never even looked for us, and if they did, then they probably gave up by now.

Deacon and I were currently in the basement waiting for Marcus. His little fox, Mariah, brought us down here because we've been here the longest and he found out about what we are. Apparently, Deacon is one of the last of his kind, but I don't know what he is, he refuses to tell me. I'm the only half breed though, Marcus said he's never seen anything like me before. I'm kinda glad for it, I don't want Marcus to hurt anyone else the way he hurts Deacon and I. This bastard is so fucked up, he literally marked us twice in two different places.

I looked at the burned star on Deacon's collarbone and sighed. I felt helpless every time I saw that star on him, me, and the other few he's marked. I wish I could turn back time and stop this all from happening, but I don't have the power to do that. I'm useless. Deacon seemed to sense my distress and hugged me. I hugged him back and when I did, I noticed there was a small door not far behind him. Marcus had made the dumb mistake not to chain is up, so Deacon and I could freely walk around the basement.

I took his hand and slowly walked over to the small door. We looked at each other for a few seconds before I nodded at him. He nodded back and I slowly turned the knob on the door. Surprisingly, it wasn't locked. The small door opened and there was what looked like a small tunnel inside. I heard footsteps, so I quickly closed the small door and pushed Deacon over to where we were sitting before. Soon after we sat back down, the main door opened. To our surprise, it was Mariah. She had a tray with bread on it. She placed it on the floor in front of us and then turned around and left. Making sure she was gone, I walked over the small door again and opened it.

"Okay Deacon, you're gonna go first." I looked over at him and he looked confused and scared, but I smiled at him to try and calm him a little bit.

"Why me? Shouldn't you go first?" He went back to where we were sitting and grabbed the bread before coming back. I rolled my eyes before answering him.

"No, you're smaller than me and if we get caught, you can still get away." I looked at the main door and then back at Deacon. "Now come on, we don't have all day." He sighed and mumbled something before he put the bread in his mouth and started crawling in the tunnel. I rolled my eyes and followed in behind him, making sure to close the small door as tightly and quietly as I could.

We crawled in the small tunnel for a while until it came to a dead end. Deacon cursed under his breath and I looked around. There was what looked like a hole above Deacon's head.

"Hey Dea, stand up." He turned his head to look at me and gave me a scowl.

"No way, why should I?" He seemed confused and I pointed above him. He looked up and the realization hit him. He stood up and I crawled behind him and lifted him up a little. He climbed his way out and scoped the area before helping me.

It looked like we were outside of a mansion on a hill. I instantly recognized this place as my mother's old base. She used to hang here with her wolf and demon friends. She used to bring me here when I was younger because she didn't want me home alone. I smiled at the memories before I stared at Deacon.
