Maisie Stone is the twin sister to Alec Stone and best friends with Serena and Blaire. She has abandonment issues. Her mom died giving birth and her father left them. Then Blaire's mom took the Stone twins in.

Alec and Maisie Stone were born only a few minutes apart. Alec was older by a minute or so. The two were almost identical.
Maisie meets her two best friends in preschool Blair Waldorf and Serena Van Der Woodsen. They instantly clicked when Maisie stood up to a bully that was making fun of Blair and Serena. Even then, Maisie had a fiery attitude.
The three were inseparable.
When the twins were ten, Annette Stone, the twins mother died from cancer. It crushed Maisie and Alec. It also messed up their father Jason Stone who took up drinking. He stopped being a good father.
As Maisie finally became a newly teenager, she started becoming one of the 'it' girls with her best friends. Serena was always more of a leader while Blair and Maisie were in her shadow.
She, Blair and Serena would sneak into her father's alcohol stash.
Jason neglected his children ever since their mother died.
Maisie ignored everything in her life, beginning to drink heavily and do drugs with Serena.
The day Serena abandoned her two best friends, Maisie overdosed. It was the worse anyone has ever felt, Blair was lost without both best friends and Alec couldn't lose the most important person in his life.
She was hospitalized for a while, and when she woke up, Blair told her the terrible news. Serena was gone.
Maisie needed her blonde best friend. But she wasn't there. At least she had Blair and Alec.
Now, a year later Maisie was getting better and Serena was back in town.
