America left the house, shutting the door behind him. It was a new school year already, huh? Well, America knew he was excited as he could be. There'd be new students, and possibly new friends. He wondered what class he'd be in, hoping he was with his friends Germany, Poland and Japan.

"Holy maple syrup, wait for me-!" America's brother Canada shouted from behind him, only just leaving the house.

America simply laughed, Canada running over to him and placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Well, have a nice first day at school!" Called their mother, France, from behind them with UK standing beside her.

"We will!" The brothers both replied on unison. And with that, they both made their way to school.

A quarter of an hour later, they had arrived, many students walking to their classes like them. Canada smiled, new possible classmates surrounding them.

In the distance, America heard somebody calling his name.

"America-senpai!" They cheered. Immediately, he knew who it was.

"Japan!" He said, realising Germany was standing beside her. He walked over to the both of them, observing what they wore.

Germany wore his usual glasses and a very formal set of clothes. His shirt was pale blue and white, his jeans a plain black.

Japan wore a red hoodie, her cat ears sticking up to the sky. She had white track pants on, along with some ankle boots.

"How are you, Sonnenbrille?" (Sunglasses) Asked Germany, a wide smile on his face. America pushed his glasses up, being reminded about them.

"I'm good, how was summer vacation?" America asked in response.

"Yeah, it was pretty good. Helping out dad with paperwork and everything. Nice and relaxed." He said, America noticing Germany mentioned his dad.

"I thought you didn't like talking about him?" Japan questioned, clearly as confused as America.

"Well, he isn't the person he used to be. I mean, in my eyes, he's redeemed his sins or something like that. He's working for UN now.. and from I've heard, he still isn't." Germany finished.

"What, do you mean Soviet-"

"BAH, Japan, don't mention him in public!" America shouted, cutting the cat hybrid off.

"S-sorry.." She said, clearly upset. America saw, and went over to her and patted her back.

"Nah, it's fine. He's just.. evil, I think." America said, frowning.

Suddenly, the bell rang.

"Shit! Germs, Japan, we should probably get to the assembly!" America said, grabbing both of their arms and dragging them away.

They pushed past tons of other kids when they ran through the hallway, soon coming to a halt.

In front of them was the most intimidating and probably tall person in school.

Russia.

"Guys.. let's just.. go around.." America whispered, the other two nodding and following America as they all shuffled around Russia.

Russia just looked at them, their hearts racing. Except, he simply shook it off as if it happened all the time.

Once the small group were out of the giant's view, they turned to their right into a smaller hallway with several doors to their left.

"Just ignore it, alright?" Germany said, patting the terrified Japan on her shoulder. She hesitated before slowly nodding, looking to him and tried to smile.

A moment later, they all turned left into one of the only double doors in the hallway, a huge hall before them. There were students filling the large place, talking g to their mates or peers beside them.

Front he corner of Germany's eye, he could see someone waving to him. It was Poland.

"Hey America! Japan! Poland was so nice, she reserved some seats for us!" Germany said, taking his turn to drag the two over to Poland.

She wore a costume similar to Germany, except missing a tie and instead having a scarf on.

"Hey, Poland!" America said, greeting her the best he could.

"Hey guys, how are you?" Poland asked while the three took seats beside her.

"Oh, we're fine. We almost bumped into Russia just now.." Germany started, Poland gasping. Germany sat beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and pulling her closer to him.

"..but the main thing is that I missed you." Germany finally finished. Poland could feel her face warming up, eventually sinking into the embrace.

"Aww, Germs.." She said closing her eyes and leaning in closer.

"Dude, the teacher will catch you two lovebirds." America said, the couple quickly splitting apart and looking separate ways.

Japan smacked America, mouthing that Germany and Poland was her favourite ship and he ruined it. Japan got really sensitive when it came to shipping.

"Welcome to the first assembly this year!" Boomed somebody walking up the stairs to the stage. It was UN taking his time off work to introduce everyone to their classes. Hey, how thoughtful.

The hall burst into applause; UN was a very popular man. America and his friends clapped too, people left right and centre cheering and clapping too.

"To those very few people who don't know who I am, my name is UN. I am the host of world meetings, and I keep things in balance. Now, I'm here to make sure you have a safe and exciting year and introduce you to your classes, as well as showing anyone who is new around the school." UN said, his introduction sounding like it had been rehearsed hundreds of times.

He went on for awhile longer, until he pulled up a clipboard from the podium in front of him, beginning to read out classes and who were in them. (This is how my school did it, don't judge me..)

Finally, he read out America's name and many others.

"...and you are in room 9." UN finished after reading out people on his class, America noticing none of them were Germany, Poland or even Japan.

He got out of his seat, along with other people spread throughout the hall, shortly leaving the room. Before America left, he turned around to his small friend group and made a 'tear falling down my cheek' kind of action. They all waved, the American leaving the hall with people he didn't recognise.

Once he got to his class, he looked around. It was small, windows in the wall letting light seep in.

And in that light, America saw, in the middle of the crowd, the tall figure he almost bumped into earlier.

It was Russia.

Russia was in his class.
