It was a perfect night with countless, luminous stars. Tom had already told Cassie's parents that he will come to visit her later that night for a short hang out.

Cassie's family had been close friends with the Holland's ever since they became neighbours. They would always invite each other for meals whenever there was a special occasion.

As Cassie patiently waited for Tom to ring her doorbell, she heard a few knocks on the door. She quickly opened the door with joy as she saw a curly-haired boy standing in front of her. "Hey," Tom smiled.

"You should've just rang the doorbell instead of knocking, you know." Cassie said as she closed the door when Tom came in. "Let's go to the terrace!" Cassie added since she remembered that there were a vast of beautiful stars to look at.

The terrace was huge and was lit up by bright, yellow lights. Cassie prepared a few blankets on the floor as she knew that they were going to chat while staring at the stars. "Do you want some snacks?" Cassie asked as they reached the terrace. "I'm good. Thanks though," Tom answered. He lay his back on the flattened blanket.

There was something bothering Tom that Cassie could feel by the way he was acting, but she didn't push him about it.

"How is the sky so pretty?" Cassie asked, pointing above.

"You're prettier," Tom mumbled.

"What did you say?" Cassie chuckled.
"H-huh? Oh, I said that they shine for you." Tom coughed as Cassie playfully hit him on the arm. "You're so dumb," she laughed.

There was a sudden silence in the air between them. Before Cassie could ask anything, Tom spoke up.

"I need to tell you something."

Cassie confusedly faced Tom.

"I'm leaving tomorrow morning for London. We're going move into a new house. Please don't be mad. I know I should've told you sooner, but I just didn't want you to think about it so much and that's why I'm doing it last minute." Tom murmured.

Cassie looked at him as if he was crazy and started bursting out laughing. "Funny prank, Tommo. Though, I almost believed you! It was kind of convincing. You just need to work better on your actions if you really want to be an actor when you grow up." Cassie boasted.

Tom looked at her dead in the eye. "No. I'm serious, Cas! Mum and Dad already told your parents, but I told them that I was going to do it myself when it came to you." Tom exclaimed as he sat and crossed his legs.

Cassie sat back up as well and began to speak. She took a hint that Tom wasn't joking. "Tom, are you serious? I- I cant- I don't know what to say. I feel angry, betrayed and upset right now! I'm not mentally prepared for you to leave. I'm still in shock processing that." Cassie stammered, holding back her tears.

Tom noticed that Cassie was about to cry. He sat closer to her, bringing her into his arms and giving her comfort.

"London is hours away from Wales! Will I ever see you again? Will you come visit me? You're probably going to a new school with new friends." Cassie sniffled.

"I could never forget you. You're my best friend. How could I? And of course I'm going to visit you every now and then." Tom sighed as he gave her a hug.

The atmosphere around them suddenly grew thick. They knew that they were going to miss one another since they did everything together ever since they were five years old.

Tom pulled out something silver from his pocket. It was a necklace. A silver necklace with a crescent moon.

"I just got this recently. When I first saw it in the shop, it reminded me so much of you and how you loved astronomy."

"Woah, Tommo. It's beautiful!" Cassie said, looking at the necklace held by Tom.

"Can I put it on you?"

Cassie nodded as she swept her hair to the side. His fingertips brushed against her collarbone as he put the necklace around her neck.

"I'm never taking it off. It will be my lucky charm." Cassie smiled.

Tom smiled back as his hazel orbs were fixated on her. He caressed her hair and brought his hand to her face. Cassie shuddered as his cold hand that brushed against her cheek. His touch was gentle and mindful.

After a few minutes, Tom broke the quietness.

"Can I kiss you?"

He leaned closer to her lips but he was hesitant. He stopped. "It's fine if you feel uncomfortable or if you don't want to–"

Cassie cut his words and kissed him. His lips were soft, tender and sweet. Tom closed his eyes and kissed Cassie back with his arm around her. He wanted to savour the taste of her lips. He wanted this moment to last.

It was his first kiss. Their first kiss.

A farewell kiss in which they'll reminisce as time flew by.
