Another Disney Star makes their way to the Archieverse and this time it's Descendants actress, Collins Baker, who will be joining the hit Netflix show along side her twin brother Landon Baker, who plays one of lead witch Sabrina Spellman's love interests.
Baker will be portraying the role of Morgan Black a witch and the "cousin" of Sabrina's other love interest Nicholas Scratch.
According to Executive Producer Ricardo Aguirre-Sacasa Morgan is a "fiery" witch who doesn't hold back her magic. Unlike the witches in Greendale, and the Academy, who keeps to themselves from the mortal world, Morgan loves mingling with mortals. She doesn't let the laws stop her from what she likes to do.
She makes her way to Greendale after turning things upside down in Europe for the last decade or so. She is also Nick's last living family since his parents died. Now we use the term cousin loosely because she and Nick have a history that isn't very familial and they aren't actually family since her parents were just close friends with his, if you catch my drift. The witches have always been very open with their sexuality and their partners. So you can imagine her coming to town will stir the caldron in Nick and Sabrina's relationship. Which in turn stirs the pot in Sabrina and Harvey's.
But she isn't just here to cause relationship drama, she's here for her own agenda too, that definitely does concern Nick. But we'll just have to see what that agenda is when Part 5 airs and we meet her.
We sat down with Collins when we went up to visit the cast in Vancouver and here's what she had to say about her role and working with her brother.
"Morgan is a force. She's sultry, she's wild, she's fun, and she definitely enjoys the magic she has. She worships the dark lord like the rest of the witches, but she doesn't seclude herself from the mortals. When she comes into town she immediately causes drama. I talked to Roberto and he said I could say this, when Morgan comes into town she makes an entrance. People don't notice it but Nick does because he knows her. Her dynamic with Nick is just dramatic and wild and they bring the crazy out of each other. They are a dynamic duo and working with Gavin is honestly amazing so far."
So as far as we can tell she'll be filming a lot with Gavin Leatherwood, who plays Nick, we asked if she had scenes with Harvey who's being played by her twin and she said
"I don't have one on one scenes with him. But I do have a few scenes with him coming up. We're only on episode 3 of 11 for part 1 so we have a lot to cover so who knows. But working with Landon is stressful because we always either start to argue in French, which is fine since most of the crew also speaks French, so they laugh along, or we can't stop laughing at each other. But Morgan loves mortals, but she is a witch so she doesn't always have the clearest view on them. She finds them fun, that's what I'll say."
We will meet Morgan in the 2nd episode of Season 3, according to Collins, and it will end with the reveal of her turn intentions. Witches are never good or bad but we'll see where she falls on the scale of more good than bad when the show comes back this October.
