Chapter 5

"Damn it, damn it, damn it!" I picked up a vase and threw it at the wall. It shattered on impact and I sent another vase after the first adding to the shards.  How could I let this happen?

I brought her here thinking I could protect her And then I let her get taken by the one person that will be her doom. So stupid! If I haven't of gotten hurt she would still be here.

"Daddy?" I turned around to see who called me.

"Jessi, what are you doing here? I thought you were with your mother?" I walked towards her and picked her up. I looked into my daughter's big scarlet eyes. How did I get so lucky with you?

"Mommy said that she needed to come to talk to you about something. And she couldn't find a sitter so she said I could come to see you!" I smiled at her cheerful face. It almost made me forget about Miranda.

"Well, I'm glad I get to see my pretty little girl. But let's get out of here, I don't want you to get cut from the glass. I give her a kiss on the head and put her down. "Where's your mother?"

"Down in the kitchen." She grabbed my hand and started pulling me to the stairs. I couldn't help but smile at her she's so alive. I chuckled at that thought. A vampire. Alive?

We went into the kitchen and I saw my wife at the table. Jessi ran to her mom and hopped on her lap. "I found daddy!" Her mother looked at Jessi with a surprised look on her face, Then she looked up at me.

"Honey go play in your room."

"Ok!" I watched her leave and once I heard her door klick shit I turned back to my wife.

"So what are you doing here? You're supposed to be at your mother's house. I told you that is the safest place for you and Jessi. I told you to wait until I came to get you."

"Yes I know but I heard what happened from one of the maids. I had to make sure you were ok."

"You seriously thought that it would be safe to come here even after hearing what happened? Are you crazy?"

"No, I'm not. I came here with a Butt loaf of guards because Mitchel kept making a big fuss."

I rubbed my face and walked over to the chair across from her. "Kyla, look I get that you're concerned for me but please your mother's house is the safest place for you right now. Hey please go back. I-I can't lose you and Jessi to." I fought the urge to cry. "Please just go back."

I felt a hand cup my face and looked up to see Kyla's beautiful scarlet eyes. "I'm always here for you Liam so please tell me if you need anything. I know you're going through a lot with your sister but please let me help you.

"Please go back. Let me handle this. I lost her, I need to get her back. I'll go get Jessi." I stood up and walked towards Jessi's room.

I opened the door and saw Jessi on the floor playing with her dolls. "Hey, kiddo." She looked up and smiled at me.

"Hi, daddy! Can you play with me?" I walked over to her and crouched down next to her.

"Sorry kiddo but I can't. You and your mom need to go back to grandma's house." I saw the disappointment in her eyes and I patted her head. "Listen Jessi I need you to promise me something. Promise me you'll look over your mother ok? I need you to be strong. We might not be able to see each other that much anymore. And I need you to understand that it's only for your protection. So will you help me out here and be strong for your mother and me?"

"Ok daddy I'll be strong." After she said that she punched my arm. And dang her vampire strength is getting stronger.

"Why'd you punch me?"

"You told me to be strong. So I'm being strong." I laughed and picked her up. I walked back to the kitchen and gave her a kiss on the head before giving her to her mom.

"Be safe you two. I'll come for you as soon as I can."

I heard a knock on my door and I hurriedly hid behind the bed. Don't come in, don't come in. I heard the door open and close then I heard a voice.

"My love why are you hiding? Come on over here and we'll go downstairs to eat dinner together." I heard the footsteps getting closer and I slid under the bed.

Once I saw his feet on the side I was just at I slid out from under the bed and ran to the door. I threw it open and ran to the closest window. I tried to open the latches but they wouldn't budge.

"Don't you think it's rude to run away from your fiancé? Come on, just stay with me."

"No, I will never stay with you! Your evil and disgusting! How could I ever love someone like you?" I felt the slap before I could even see him move. The slap forced me to the ground and I felt the tears in my eyes.

"Do not disrespect me like that! How dare you! You should learn to respect your future husband and father of our future child." My eyes widened at that last one. Our child?

"Like I would ever have a child with a monster!" This time instead of a slap it was a kick to the gut. I gasped for air and clutched my stomach. "I'll never allow you to have a child with me." I wheezed out. "My brother will kill you before he let you touch me."

He let out a wicked laugh and stared down at me. His gaze sent chills down my spine. "Your brother will never see you again. Your mine and if he tries to take you away he'll die."
