Chapter 3
¤♡¤

Changbin waved goodbye to the last customer, it was half hearted but he was about to close anyway so he was eager to get rid of them. His boss had wanted him to keep the cafè open a little longer but seeing as it was 11:58 he decided to lock up. As he was walking towards the door it swung open and in walked a familiar blond. Sighing Changbin went back behind the counter and gave the younger his best smile. Best fake smile.
"Black coffee?" He asked.
"Uh, y-yeah" he said. Changbin smiled again and walked back and into the kitchen. Because it was so late the rest of his co-workers had already left, which meant he had to make it himself. It took five minutes for the coffee to brew and in those five minutes Changbin stood looking into space. He was kinda annoyed that Felix had arrived at such an ungodly hour but he didn't want to be rude. Okay, he didn't care about the manners he showed towards the younger but he didn't want to be rated badly. He could lose his position even if he was a close friend of the cafés manager.

Changbin jumped when he heard the five minute timer going off. With his heart beating quickly he poured the coffee into a white mug and and walked out of the kitchen. Felix was sitting where he was last time which wasn't that weird, apart from the fact that it was completely dark over there and Changbin kept have small heart attacks every time he saw the outline of someone.

Het set the hot coffee down on the table and opened his mouth to warn the younger of the beverages temperature but Felix had already swallowed the whole lot. Changbin winced when he saw the boy gag and stick his tongue out.

"Do you need some water?"

He nodded vigorously. The shorter quickly went to the counter where there was a mug of water for customers who didn't want to pay for a drink or just wanted water. He filled up a glass and rushed back over to the table setting it down in front of him. Again the younger wasted no time in downing the water as well. Changbin thought he would have learned his lesson by now and the boy started coughing to which Changbin sighed and gently patted his back.

"Are you okay now?"

Again the boy just nodded. Changbin left the younger to his own devices and wondered if Felix was actually getting any sleep. Guessing from the time he came into the small coffee shop Changbin thought that maybe he had insomnia. It was something Changbin himself sometimes struggled with, which was partly the reason his boss made him do night shifts. Maybe he and Felix weren't that different. Of course he still disliked the younger but he couldn't help but feel a small connection grow.

When Felix finally left, Changbin closed the shop and started walking home. It was pretty late at night and only the light of the street lamps illuminated his path towards his apartment. As he neared, he made out a tall figure standing in the distance, he was walking slowly so Changbin thought he would catch up pretty quickly but when the unknown person turned into his apartment complex he frowned. It wasn't weird to see someone walk into his building but the late hour had him confused. Why would anyone, besides him, be out this late at night. He concluded that other people had lives like him who had to work late. He didn't think anything of it when he also turned towards the glass door but was surprised to see the stranger still standing near the elevator. Thinking he could make a new friend he walked into the building without hesitation. Only he regretted it instantly. Waiting next to the elevators was Felix.

Both of them stilled as they saw each other and only jumped out of the trance when the elevator dinged. Both got in and was surrounded with awkward silence(I'll wait for these comments lmao). Changbin was trying to look everywhere but Felix' face but he found nothing that looked interesting inside the small plain metal box.

He mentally sigh, Felix looked just as uncomfortable with this re-encounter. Why God why? Why did you make this my fate for the night. That ten second elevator ride almost killed him and he rushed out when it reached the third floor. But what Changbin had failed to notice was that only the third floor button had lit up so he internally sagged when he saw Felix get off as well. Another excruciating ten seconds and he saw Felix turn down another corridor.

When Changbin got into his room he flopped on his messy bed, glad that situation was over with and hoping that they wouldn't run into each other on the way to school the next day.
