Authors note: I hope you like this little one-shot I wrote to sort of fill the gap. I wrote it based on the video up top because I thought it was cute. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it, and don't forget to get back up again!
David shot up in bed with a big smile on his face as he looked around the counselor's cabin. He tucked his morning wood back where it was supposed to be, and strode confidently out of the counselor's cabin. He felt confident that today was going to be a fantastic day. The skies were sunny and a butterfly flew right past his face. So nothing could possibly go wrong today!
David pushed open the door into the mess hall and greeted all the campers with a smile. He was especially happy to see that Max was just a twinge bit happier than usual this morning. He walked over and tousled his hair making the boy swat his hand away.
"Don't do that," Max said as he fixed his hair.
"Are you ready to have a wonderful day today Max?" David asked.
"I'm ready to ruin yours, yeah," Max said as he sipped his coffee with an evil smirk.
"That's wonderful!" David said. "Whatever makes you happy!" Max rolled his eyes as his threat was suddenly turned into a reason to celebrate by David.
David had been a bit more attentive to Max lately, ever since there camping trip. Now that David had agreed to adopt him, absolutely nothing has changed! Which David took as a good sign. He'll know what to expect out of Max in the future after all! And he didn't regret his decision one bit, no matter how many disasters Max starts.
"Alright everyone, today well be going on a nature walk!" David said as everyone groaned as soon as they heard the word nature. "Let's get packed kids, we have a ton of fun activities to do out in the forest, like bird watching!"
Max smirked as he walked over to where Neil and Nikki were sitting.
"This is gonna be fun...," Max said as he rubbed his hands together evilly.

David leads the group around the forest as Neil and Max slinked away. He walked over to Harrison who was greatly annoyed at Nerris over something.
"Now now kids, fighting amongst each other is not going to solve problems," David said. "Here Harrison, why don't you show Nerris the beauty of nature!"
"Max and Neil have a flamethrower," Harrison said.
"You suck Harrison!" Nerris said as she threw a bunch of dice at his face. "That was supposed to be a secret."
"They have what?" David asked. He ran over to where Max and Neil were, and suddenly stopped, dropped, and rolled as he was engulfed in flames.
"Turn it off!" Max said annoyed. "We're supposed to burn the forest, not David!"
"Got it," Neil said as he shut off the makeshift flamethrower.
"Max!" David said as he stood up. Max looked up at his new adoptive father with an evil smirk. "I am confiscating that flamethrower."
"Come and get it," Max said as he held it up. David marched over and grabbed the flamethrower out of his hands. He suddenly fell down a hidden hole sending the flamethrower flying elsewhere. Max chuckled and walked away as David climbed out the hole slightly dazed at nearly being burned alive and being put in a hole.
Nikki suddenly bit his arm making David scream in horror, before throwing her off.
"See, now do that," Nikki said as she landed on the ground. Three wolves came out of the brush and David scrambled up a tree. He suddenly felt a bit warmer as the ground beneath suddenly erupted into flames. He looked over at Max holding the flamethrower with an evil smirk on his face.
"Max, that is not very good fire safety." David said.
"He has a point, that might be a bit too far Max." Neil said.
"Fine." Max said as he turned off the flamethrower. David crawled down the tree as the wolves fled from the flames, and the underbrush was quickly burned away. David took a moment to catch his breath before he puffed out his chest and decided that it wasn't all that bad.
"Where....where did everyone go?" David asked as he realized the other campers where suddenly gone.
"Probably back to camp....or there dead." Max smirked as he added that last part.
"There what?" David asked.
"There fine, lets just go." Max said he turned and stopped when he suddenly realized the flames where all around them.
"Oh great, now we're gonna burn to death." Max said. "Well, I have no regrets. See you fuckers in hell, or wherever the fuck we go. I wonder if Timmy has wifi." He said as he referenced one of there previous weird adventures. This place really goes off the rails sometimes.
"I actually don't wanna die." Neil said. A sudden burst of fire next to him made him jump and yell. "Jesus, fucking fire."
"Don't worry kids, i'll find a way out of this!" David said. He picked up Neil and Max and took off running through an area that was only slightly burning. He managed a few hundred feet before Nikki suddenly hopped on his back followed by the three wolves one after the other. He ran all the way back to camp and came crashing down right after crossing the gate.
"David?" Gwen asked. David looked up and saw a forest ranger standing next to her. Max and Neil dove behind Davids back as he sighed.

David put the last of the wood on the fire and took a seat next to Max. It had been a long day, mostly trying to keep the kids from being killed by their own mischief. The fire was under control at least, though he had a lot of explaining to do concerning the flamethrower.
"I think that went....." David twitched as he tried to think of a remotely positive word for there day. "Hot."
"Yeah, it was super hot." Nikki said. "I wanna start another fire!"
"Please don't." David begged.
"You can't control me!" Nikki said as she shoved a flaming marshmallow into his face.
David yelled as he swatted the flaming piece of deliciousness away. He looked down as he noticed Max was being a little quite, and smiled when he saw that Max was leaning against him with a little smile on his face.
"I guess.....today went better than I thought it did." David said as he took some comfort in knowing that at least Max had a little fun today. He resolved that if this was what it was going to take to give Max a good home, then he would just tough it out and try his hardest to keep rolling with the punches. He closed his eyes for just a moment and suddenly slipped into unconsciousness.
"Huh, what?!" Max said as David suddenly fell backwards. He rolled his eyes when he saw David on the ground. "Fucking sentimental moron."
He smiled slightly at David as David snored on the ground. He pushed off the log he was sitting on and double checked the idiots burn ointment, and re-applied some that got smudged from today. He sighed when he realized he was actually content with his new life.
"Wanna steal his pants?" Nikki asked.
"Nikki, you always know just what to say." Max smiled evilly, time to make David's new life a living hell.
