Allison and Luther

Throughout the show, it's obvious that Luther has had feelings for Allison ever since they were children. However, as they grow up and almost every Hargreeves child leaves, Luther is the last one left. Even after Allison leaves, he still thinks about her. You can see this in the show when Luther's walking out of his bedroom and glances at Allison's old, empty room.

Luther never had a chance to really see the outside world. All Allison wanted was to leave the Umbrella Academy. Though Allison's feelings for Luther continue to linger, Claire, her daughter, is her main desire. She loves her daughter and even stated that she would die for her. During Claire's bedtime stories, Allison mentions Luther a lot. He was practically Claire's own personal superhero. Luther liked that.

To get into the real theory behind their feelings have to do with Allison's powers. We know that Allison's power consists of mental and physical manipulation. Whenever she says the words "I heard a rumor" and says a demand after, the person told that either thinks or acts how she told them to. What if Allison used her powers on Luther in order for him to love her?

In the car scene where Allison goes through a series of "I heard a rumor..." memories, one said, "I heard a rumor that you loved me." At first, I thought she might have used her power on Patrick, her ex husband, but maybe it was Luther. Maybe when she was younger, she had a huge crush on Luther and wanted him to feel the same way.

In the first episode, Allison explains to Luther how she wasn't with Patrick or Claire anymore. She said, "I made a wish, and it came true, and I couldn't take it back." This could have also been the case between her and Luther. She "heard a rumor" that Luther loved her and it came true. As time went on, Luther's feelings for Allison stayed where as Allison's feelings for him drifted. Luther knew that she was married and even had a child but still wanted her. Maybe because there's no way to take back Allison's wishes. If Allison could take back a wish, she would have taken all of her wishes back from Claire.

Just a reminder that this a theory, not a fact. Yes, it's backed off of evidence but I don't know for sure. I thought about this while watching but have yet to see a theory online. Maybe Luther really does like Allison on his own. Thanks for reading!
