5. The Eve

Rainy days, aren't they beautiful? Hindi ko makalimutan ang mga araw na ganito, ang malakas na buhos ng ulan at ang lamig na temperatura na nagpaligid sa'akin. I look out my window, and the sad gloomy atmosphere I see upon my very eyes were a beautiful sight. My friends think of me as bitter for liking the rain, but I think of it as a sweet and pleasant surprise. Some days aren't like the others.

I was asleep for almost a day now, and I couldn't quite remember what happened to me the other day. All I remember was catching a ride in the back of a pick-up with Reah and Nicole, and everything after that was a blur. I remembered nothing after that. I texted Jude when I woke up, What happened Jude? Did my mother know everything that happened yesterday?

I sit down my study table, my laptop displaying my father's collection of files of Accidents across the years of his career being a detective, it was a wide array of files, but it was easy to navigate through the files as my father liked being organized and specific. I can't seem to find the files on the North District, it was clearly tucked away in his top secret cabinet inside his study.

My mom was out for the whole week today, I get to spend the rest of my week searching for what truly happened to us. These visions were only previews of what happened and nothing could be clearly explained by only these visions, I had to cross-check everything that had details on it.

Naghanap ako sa mga files ng mga aksidente sa Northern District mountains at halos isang kabinete na files ang meron. Every time I picked up these files I made sure no one knew about it. It was the only thing I did secretly, the only secret I kept from my dad. My mother was always on occasional business trips, my dad off to police work that had to be done.

Walang case na hindi niya tinatangap, dahil sa kanyang ka-workaholic. Hinahanap ko ang aming mga pangalan sa files, there was one case. All of the passengers were dead, none found alive. But how are we still alive? There are no death certificates, only one person was found alive, Michelle Bayno. Siya 'yung aming adviser noon, siya 'yung nasa aking mga panaginip. That mysterious figure that kept on leaning across the horizon, staring blankly at me, her pupils gone and white.

How is she alive despite the 'severe crash' that was reported? When she was rescued, the health report stated she was stuck in a coma for six months, and had no previous memories from the accident. No one could tell exactly what happened at this point. I looked thoroughly at the report, and one statement stood out to me, When asked the most recent memory she could recount, Michelle stated 'It was on a bus, I was counting the children, and in my hands was a watch. A gold watch with an initial carved on it.' That was before everything that happened, I knew. That was what my visions told me. Along with the hard copy was a flash disk containing the soft copy of Michelle's files.

Siya ang tanging paraan parang malaman namin ang lahat na nangyari sa'amin noon. I must tell Reah, Jude, and Nicole about this, she's the only one who knows and can explain to us.

I drag Michelle's files into my flash drive and walk to a near StarDucks, I skim through her files, looking for anything recent. There was nothing but an application for Saint Francis College. Biglang may ning yakap sa aking mga kamay, I look up to see who it is, hindi ko kilala ang lalaking ito. Who is he?

"Umm.. excuse me, can I ask you who you are?" I ask. "You probably haven't met me, but I'm JR. I picked you, Reah, and Nicole last night."

"Oh! Thank you for that, what do you want from me?"

"Can you come with me somewhere?"

"To where? I can't go somewhere far off, may kailangan kong gagawin at hindi pwedeng iiwan lang." sagot ko sa kanya, "Just, follow me! It's Reah and Jude they're going somewhere, I followed them. Pero, nakita kita, and I thought that you might be interested to accompany me following the two of them. Sabi ni Jude na gusto mo yung mga mystery. So, I'm giving you one and you better accept my offer, quickly."
