"Everybody!" Mr Bert raised his hand in the air to silence the loud class. "Class, I said quiet!"
I watched as every eye in the small classroom shot towards the bloated man. This is going to be fun.
"Alright - as your main teacher is in a meeting at the moment, Miss James will be taking your geography class for the first half of the lesson. She's new, so be nice to her."
The shift in eyes landed on me this time and I raised my arm up slightly to indicate that I was, in fact, 'Miss James'. It was weird hearing someone addressing me as something other than 'Nina', but I guess I was going to have to get used to this.
Many of the students in this class were guys, but the majority were girls with testing eyes aimed at me. I wasn't really intimidated or anything because it wasn't long ago that I was sitting in those chairs, too.
Mr Bert, the deputy head, nodded at me briefly before heading towards the door and into the empty hallway.
"Uh, hi," I began. A dull chorus of hi's was muttered from the group and I frowned slightly, walking over to the whiteboard. "As you just heard, my name is Miss James and I will be taking over your class for the first half of the lesson and your main teacher will return to take you for the rest..."
I finished my small introduction and asked the class to turn to page sixty-eight in their textbooks for we were looking into Geography. Honestly, I would prefer to take an Art class because that was one of the things I took for my GCSE's, but I wasn't complaining.
A boy who had been smirking at the back of the class for a while now raised his hand.
"Yes," I looked at the seating plan to find his name, "Marcus?"
"How old are you?" the class erupted in laughter at his question and my eyes widened slightly. Were they even listening to anything I was saying?
"Um," I thought about what to say back before replying. "Let's just say I'm too old for you."
Whistles and cheers were made by the students at my comeback and I smiled in satisfaction as Marco - I mean, Marcus - sunk into his chair deeper and rolled his eyes, shrugging off the rejection he was probably feeling.
I wasn't lying though. The majority of the kids in that class looked around sixteen to seventeen. I'm twenty two.
"Right, now can everybody tell me why it's colder on the inland in winter than it is-"
"Sorry for the delay, class." I turned my attention to the doorway to see a tall man with messy, dark brown hair leaning against the doorframe. "It was a long meeting, but I came just in time to tell you why temperature is important geographically."
The girls giggled and the boys laughed, but I did not move.
Instead, I stared at the way this man's deep green eyes lit up when he smiled and the dimples that appeared when he did. He was in a dress shirt with black trousers and his large, muscular arms were crossed over his torso as he stepped fully into the room.
I might have been exaggerating, but he was probably the most attractive person to walk the face of the earth.
Suddenly, his attention shifted to mine and his eyes dimmed slightly as he looked me up and down. I felt embarassed at the fact that I was practically staring at him and I looked at the whiteboard to see that I absentmindedly drew a wonky line down half the board whilst in my thoughts. There was no doubt that the redness in my cheeks could be seen by anyone within a one mile radius.
"Uh, thanks for taking my class, Miss." He nodded at me, lips set in a firm straight line. Okay, then.
"No problem," I said as I picked up my things to shove in my bag. I zipped it up and waved goodbye to the class before walking towards the man at the doorway.
"Mr Styles," he said as I entered the hallway. I turned around to face him.
"What?"
"My name. It's Mr Styles." He says before shutting the door and leaving me alone. I see why there are so many girls taking Geography, now.
