Victoria awoke in a strange room lying on a bed with green sheets.  She was not held in anyway.  For a strange reason she had her wand on her.  She looked around.  She noticed she had everything – including her emergency portkey that Tom had given her and her wand.  She was just about to try to activate that portkey when she noticed something.

Lying on the floor of the room was a locket.  It was inlaid with glittering green stones.  There was what looked like a diamond snake in the middle, but instead it was an S.  She picked it up and immediately she felt the presence she had felt in the diary before Ginny had died and in her own head.  She placed the locket in her pocket, thinking of her luck.

She had no sooner done that when the door burst open and the frightening face of Sirius Black made his way into the room.

“Why did you do that?” he growled.

She backed up.

“Do what?” she asked.

“You let that criminal get away.  Now, I can’t prove my innocence and find Harry and live with him.”

Victoria saw that his hands were clenched in fists, but he didn’t have his wand on him.

“I’m going to rip your throat out,” he said.

“She didn’t know what to do.

“Stupify,” she shouted.

He moved quickly, and she tried another,

“Impedimenta,”

And this one found it, and she sent another, but he got closer.

As he put his hands up to go around her neck, she said words she thought she’d never say:

“Crucio –“

She held her wand in fear and loathing as Sirius Black fell back and went to the ground.  He started to shake as she held her wand there.  She approached him, not withdrawing the wand.  As she held the spell, she felt euphoria.  She felt powerful.  She felt like she was in charge.

As she held the wand over him, she growled,

“How dare you!  Where were you the last fifteen years.  You weren’t worried about me then!”  He certainly couldn’t hear her nor would he understand.  With that last thought, she stopped.

“Petrificus Totalus,” she said.

She levitated his body and walked down the steps and out the front door.  She did a quick spell with her wand, knowing that would bring a Ministry official.  Then, she waited.  A few minutes later a Ministry Auror appeared and he saw her and then he saw Sirius Black.
“Help me,” she whispered.  “He kidnapped me.  Somehow I got out and was able to get away and cast this spell.”

Then from exhaustion she fell over and lost consciousness.

Victoria awoke in a bed and to the sight of Albus Dumbledore staring down at her.  She looked up at him, knowing her Occlumency shields were up.

“Miss Avery,” he said.  “You were very brave, but I wanted to talk to you for a minute –“

She baked away from the man.

“Where is my guardian?”  She asked.  “I don’t want to talk to you!”

He chuckled and backed away.  Then, he pulled out a piece of candy from his robes still in its wrapper.  He reached over.

“Perhaps this would help you feel better?” he said.

She shook her head.  “My mother always told me not to take candy from strangers –“
