Chapter 11: The Girl and the Beast
Do you ever think you're the only one that can do something? Then later you find out that someone you know can do it to? Well, I thought the Draconians and I were the only ones able to walk the tunnel that linked the subterranean lands to the over world. I was wrong.
"Axel!" A muffled voice yelled, shaking me.
"Five more minutes..." I said, brushing the hand away.
"Something's attacking the kingdom!" The voice said, shaking me harder.
My eyes snapped open, and I saw Sammy's eyes glazed with fear.
"What exactly is it?" I asked, standing up and stretching.
"I don't know! It moves like a shadow! It can actually manipulate them too, from the looks of it!"
I paused, and spoke quietly. "I've seen that before but where...?" I shook my head. "It doesn't matter. I need protect my kingdom."
I stepped out to the balcony and saw something dashing around the small cluster of stores in the town square.
"I'm off." I said, letting my wings unfurl and flying off.
As I neared the town square, the attacker became more defined. It seemed like a dog but huge. It seemed faster in any shadows. It howled loudly and looked around. I landed on the ground in the town square and it turned to look at me.
"Leave my kingdom alone. We've done nothing to- uhg!" I was cut off by a large paw hitting me hard.
"BlackWing Bane!" I shouted, but rather than let my wings unfurl, I focused the energy burst into my legs and arms.
I jumped and punched the large creature, and it seemed to shrink. It returned the favor, biting and puncturing my shoulder. I screamed in pain and ripped its jaws open to escape. I punched its chin and it shrunk further. A claw scored my side, and I heard ribs breaking. I kneeled and the creature loomed over me, salivating. I punched it in the chest and it staggered. Taking the one opportunity I had, I tackled it, and began to pummel it into the ground. The rage slowly ebbed before I got to kill it in full force, so I decided on one glorious punch to kill it entirely. I reared my arm back, when I noticed it's eyes.
"Aiyana?" I asked, still having my fist ready to punch the creature.
The creature nodded solemnly and I helped it up. I felt Aiyana change back to human form. I turned to look and immediately snapped my eyes back in front of me.
"Why are you here?" I asked, walking towards the kingdoms exit.
"I'm not really sure... I just walked through the portal you went through, and then I got here. I'm scared." She said, tearing up.
"It's ok. It's ok. I'm sorry about all this," I motioned to her now bruised body, "You just were a bit... aggressive."
She nodded, and I helped her into the tunnel that lead to the overworld.
"You're probably gonna be sore for a while... I hit you pretty hard." I said.
"Ya don't say." She said, noticing my ribs and shoulder. "Jesus... did I do that?"
"Yeah, but I'll be fine." I laughed.
We exited the tunnel and I helped her home.
"You know how to reach me, right?" I asked.
She nodded, smiling.
"Try and control that just a bit... please." I said.
"I'll try." She chuckled.
I started to walk back through the tunnel entrance, before pausing.
"Wait." I said, running up to her.
She paused and looked at me, a confused look on her face.
"Since I know you'll feel this one," I said, smiling and blushing, "Have this." I kissed her cheek and walked through the tunnel entrance and closed it down. The darkness enveloped me, but I knew where to go. I smiled and hummed, walking to Draconia. I stepped into throne room, and then passed out. Days later I woke up.
"Am I alive?" I asked myself, poking my ribs and shoulder. They were completely healed.
"Look who's up." I heard Katey say.
"How long was I out?"
"A few days."
"Jeez... sorry."
Katey smiled and nodded. The other girls walked in, smiling as I got up.
"I keep worrying all of you... my bad." I said, blushing.
"Damn right... but it's fine." Val said.
I checked my phone, and there was a message from Aiyana.
'Thanks for your help.'
I smiled and walked to the royal chambers, and lied down. I just lied there, not doing much. Music playing quietly from my phone. I had an idea and sat up, my face blushed. I walked to the tunnel walkers and just motioned for them to open a tunnel. I went to the overworld and left a note on Aiyana's door.
'I used to like you... I'm not sure how strong these feelings are but it's very weird. You make me feel normal... and I thank you for that.'
I walked back through the tunnel and lied down on the bed. My eyes shut and I just slept. No dreams or nightmares just basic sleep. But I failed to notice some jealousy that I noticed the next day.
