I ran and ran, as Mr. Rockford chased after me. I turned around and there was a huge crowd of students cheering me on. Jokingly, I waved.

"Bye guys!" I shouted at the students. But I was getting tired, and Mr. Rockford was catching up to me, when suddenly I saw Daniel jump over the fence and run towards us both.
Of course! Daniel doesn't go to school, so they can't reprimand him for skipping!

"Vetty, come here!" I sprinted at him, and he grabbed me, and threw me onto his back, running towards the gate into the woods again.
The crowd of students had gone mad by now, and I could barely hear what was going on, but I was more focused on getting to the woods safely.

Mr. Rockford went back into school, exhausted, and Daniel dropped me onto the floor again.

"What were you thinking?" Daniel said, breathless.
"I don't know. I don't even know why I'm here. I may as well have just stayed. There's only 3 classes left of school anyways." I got back up onto my feet.

"Come on, then. They're going to come back and get you if you just stand there. The woods is literally there."
"Oh yeah." I replied.

We walked back to the gate, and climbed over the top of it, where
Roman was stood laughing.
"Most daring escape of the year award goes to you." Roman giggled.
"Why, thank you!" I exclaimed, jokingly.

"It's Vetty Spaghetti!" Marie shouted from a short distance. Marie was Roman's girlfriend, but they had quite a big age gap. She was 14, and he was 19, but that didn't seem to bother them.
"Yep. That would be me."

I felt my phone vibrate in my bag.
"Oh shoot. It's my Dad! What am I going to do if he finds out I'm not in school." I panicked.

"Just text him and say you're in class and can't talk right now." Roman suggested. So I did.

He rung me again.

I picked up, "Hello? Dad. I'm busy."

"Get home." He replied before hanging up.

"I knew this was a bad idea. Daniel you should have just left your hand over the gate and not gone and grabbed her! None of us three are allowed in school, what if her dad thinks that you kidnapped her or something!" Marie screamed at Daniel.

Marie was no longer allowed in school, because she had tried to assault a teacher, so they kicked her out, and now she spends most of her time with Daniel, Roman and Bridie, and occasionally, me.

"Relax, it'll be fine. Yvette, why don't we come home with you so your dad can't shout at you?" Daniel asked.

"I don't see why not." I answered. "Come on, if we don't get there soon he's going to kill me."

All four of us walked down to my house, where we knocked on the door, and were greeted by Dad.

"See, I knew you weren't in school. If you were really in school, you wouldn't have come home." Dad scolded me.

"Actually, she told the office, and called us to ask if we could walk her back, as there was nobody around and she didn't want to risk anything. There's some dodgy people around here." Roman backed me up.

"You don't need to lie to me. I know exactly what happened. Which one of you is Daniel?"

Daniel walked up to the top step. "That would be me."

"Now listen here. I don't want you near my kids. In fact, all of you, leave."

Roman and Daniel left, but Marie stayed. "D'you mind not talking to people like that?" She asked Dad. "Because you can tell that none of us appreciate it."

"I don't care whether you appreciate it or not. This is my property."

"Actually Dad, we rent it. It's technically not our property." I scoffed at him.

"Yvette, get inside. I don't want you hanging around these people."
Dad said as Marie left to catch up with the other two.

"Dad what the hell was that all about?!" I asked him, annoyed.

"Keep your voice down. Jamie's at home and if he finds out you're here too, he'll start a fight with you again. He still hasn't got over this morning." Dad said.

Quietly, I walked upstairs to my bedroom. There was no other space than in the loft for my bedroom, so every time I went up there, I had to take the other staircase. The walls in my room were full of posters of my favourite band, Queen. I also had my bass guitar and writing desk in there.

I sat down at my desk and emptied my bag out. As I was emptying it, I heard someone coming up the stairs.

"I'm taking your brother out. Don't make a mess of the house while I'm gone."
