I watched Dad and Jamie walk out of the house and into the car, and then as the car rode of into the distance. I expected to hear Mum's voice telling me to help her with the chores while the boys were out, but it was only now that I noticed she wasn't home. She couldn't have been at work, because she works as a night-nurse, and she wouldn't have been gone until 6pm.
I wondered if time had gone a lot quicker than I thought, but it was only twenty to two in the afternoon. She couldn't have been gone for the next few hours.

I heard a phone go off, but it wasn't mine, it was Dad's. In fact, it was a message from Mum.
'She's a disappointment. She's following in Marie's footsteps, and unfortunately, her brother's.'
I was heartbroken. It could only be about me, nobody else. I turned Dad's phone off and ran back into my room, angry.

I hate everything about these people.
