the sound of a doorbell was heard, and a squeal and giggle came from a room upstairs. the 5 year old girl dashed down the stairs and ran to the door, jumping and clapping excitedly. her mother quickly removed herself from her spot in front of the stove and stalked over to the door, hushing her daughters excited giggles.
she opened the door to reveal 2 taller people, one a man and one a woman. a certain boy appeared timidly from behind the woman's leg.
"mikeeeeyyy!" the young girl yelled excitedly, giggling. the boy smiled and threw his hands into the air.
"hannaaahhh!" he yelled back with equal excitement. he took the girl in his arms and gave her a big hug and she smiled, grabbing his hand and leading him into the house.
"come on!" she said, running up the steps with michael close behind. "daddy bought me these new power rangers and i want to play together!" she smiled. michael giggled happily as they entered hannah's room. michael hopped up onto her bed and she grabbed her action figures out of a bin, jumping up and spreading them across the bed.
"i want the black one!" michael screamed as hannah reached for the black power ranger, quickly snatching it away before she had the chance to grab it. hannah gasped.
"but that one's my favourite!" she yelled. michael smirked as best as a 5 year old could.
"i'm older, so i get the black one." he said.
"but you're only a few days older! and we're both 5!" hannah defended, holding up 5 fingers. "and it's mine so i get the black one!" she gripped onto the figure in michael's hands. michael frowned.
"hannaaaaah," he whined and gave her he biggest pout he could. she looked at him and sighed.
"fine," she frowned. "i'll be the pink one." michael smiled wide and giggled.
"thank you!" he exclaimed, leaning over and giving her a quick kiss on the nose. hannah giggled and rubbed her nose.
"yucky," she mumbled. "i'm thirsty. want a juice box?" she asked michael, and he shook his head. hannah nodded.
"be right back." she said, getting off the bed and walking out of the room. as she was going down the stairs she heard a soft echoey voice.
'i changed my mind. i want a juice box please.'
hannah almost shouted back "okay!" but she stopped on the stairs. that was michael's voice, but it didn't sound like it was coming from her room. it sounded much closer, almost as if it was coming from,
her head.
she quickly grabbed 2 juice boxes from the kitchen cupboard and ran into the living room where her mother and the 2 older people (who she assumed were michael's parents) were sitting.
"mommy mommy! i need to tell you something!" she said, and her mother picked her up and set her on her lap.
"what is it hannah?" she asked.
"well, i asked michael if he wanted a juice box and he said no, and i went to get one for myself and he said he wanted one, but he said it in my head!" she said excitedly, amazed at what her friend could do. her mother laughed, but michael's parents stayed silent.
"that's silly, sweetie," her mother started, but hannah cut her off.
"no, no! his voice was in my head, mommy! it was!" she said. and michael's mom cleared her throat and checked her watch. she suddenly gasped.
"oh dear! i forgot michael has an appointment in 10 minutes!" she said, a bit panicky. she got up and called michael down, and they got on their shoes and quickly left the house.
and that was the last time hannah saw her friend.
