A devastating scream jerks me up form my sleep and I find myself in my room accompanied by a worried Leah standing close to the door.
What happened last night floats into my mind and my chest tightens. Remembering Christian's face when I told him about Logan aches my heart. It was better when he didn't know. At least he didn't make that face. That lost face.
That scream echoes in my head and I spring to the door. Christian. It's him. What happened?
"Stop. We can't go out until Christian tells us to." Leah says nonchalantly.
"Leah I heard him screaming! Something is happening to him I need to see him!" I push her away from the door and grab the knob. Something in my heart shakes as I open the door.
What's happening to him? I never heard him scream like that and its sqeezing my heart. "Christian!" I yell leaping towards the sofa and crossing it I come halfway across the living room.
The sight in front of me numbs my brain. My breathing stops the moment my eyes land on Christian. My senses go numb as I try to register what is happening in front of me.
What I notice first is blood. Lots of it. Deep red liquid keeps streaming out of his abdomen and even his chest is drenched in blood. His face has gone pale white and I can't tolerate watching him like this.
"Stop it!" I shriek as a sob escapes my lips. I run towards him and grab the guy by shoulder who has a long thing which looks like a rod thrust inside Christian.
I push him back with everything I have in me and he stumbles back, surprised. Leah comes from behind and hits him hard in the head with a bat and he cries out. "What the fuck!" He clutches his head with his hands and is about to get up but Leah gives him no time as she hits him on the same spot again.
"Christian!" I turn around to look at him and find him clutching tightly on the rod stuck inside his chest. "Christian." I lung forward pulling him in my arms. Tears have made their way down on my cheeks and the fear of losing him occupies my mind making me panic. I can't lose anyone in my life anymore. It would definitely break me.
"Chri-"
Suddenly the door opens and two people dressed in black burst in with weapons ready in their hands. I feel like I've seen one of them before. "Sir!" One of them who I'm seeing for the first time rushes towards us."Sir!" He looks at me suspiciously for a moment before pointing his gun at me.
"Wait! We have to take Christian to the hospital and before that we need to stop his bleeding!" My voice shakes while my grip on Christian's shoulders grow stronger.
"Ray! She's not our enemy!" The other guy shouts from the other side of room where the guy who stabbed Christian was.
"Okay!" Ray shouts back and nods at me. "Sorry mam please let me handle this" I nod and back away from Christian.
"Sir! Do not worry! I'll take you to the hospital right away!" He carefully picks Christian in his arms. Christian opens his eyes slowly pain clear on his face. He then looks at me and his eyes widen in horror. "Hazel!"
"Wh-why are you.." he squeezes his eyes shut again because of the pain.
"Don't talk." I whisper to him and gently touch his face. "You're going to be okay." I bite my lips to hold back a sob. The only option I have right now is to be strong and positive. He's going to be okay. He's not going to go anywhere. He's not going to disappear.
"Wow Christian you have female bodyguards now? Amazing!" I hear a thick deep voice from behind me.
I turn around to see a tall blond guy marching towards us. His lips are streched into a half smirk which seems too familiar. I've seen him before somewhere.
"Stay back Chris-christopher.." Christian mutters and I gasp.
Christopher?
"Oh don't worry I have no intention of stealing your pretty bodyguards." His face lights up when his eyes land on me. "Or maybe I should change my mind." He is about to grab my arm when someone comes and stands between us. It's the other guy dressed in black.
"One step forward and you lose your life." He mutters.
"Oh my I'm scared!" Christopher throws his hands up in the air making a scared face and then break into a loud laughter.
He kicks the guy in his head making him unconscious in a moment. Just how strong is this guy?
Leah comes to attack from behind but he holds her arm without even looking back. She cries out as he squeezes her hands and the bat in her hands falls down. "Don't you dare hurt her!" I shout lunging forward. My eyes search for something to hit him but fail to find anything. I freeze when I realise I'm standing dangerously close to Christopher.
"Hello little bird." He lets go of Leah's hands and steps closer to me. "You like to chirp a lot don't you?" His hand clutches my neck and I struggle to breathe. I remember the time when Grace did the same thing and tears break out. "Let me go!" I scream but its not very loud.
"Ray! Forget about me and go!" I hear Christian shouting and a moment after my neck is freed from Christopher's grip. My body shakes as if it's been in cold water. I'm so weak.
"Christian my brother," Christopher says knocking out Ray with his punch. "I told you before that your men are weak."
I look down at Ray whose jaw is bleeding and he is struggling to get up. It was just one punch. With every passing minute terror of Christopher's power is growing inside me. I realise now why Christian's face paled when his brother's name was mentioned.
He's terrifying.
"You there." He points at me. "What's your name?"
My lips feel heavy, I struggle to open them and speak. I guess that's what fear does to you. I glance to my right at Christian who is on his knees with one of his hand gripping the rod stuck in his chest and other hand taking support of the wall. He's looking at me with fear clouding his eyes and mouthing me 'run away now' continuously.
Christian wanted to hide me from this guy for a reason. Now that he has seen me the least I should do is to hide my identity from him. I try to compose myself and look into Christopher's cunning green eyes.
"I'm Hazel." I blurt out. "Just Hazel."
