Chapter eight: Saints

   So, Heaven. What's it like? It's calm, warm, empty. Well empty to visitors like myself. Heaven is a place designed to give the dead soul the best life possible. Meaning; all wishes and wants come true. Any wish, sinful or otherwise. Anyhoo, me and Jax were wandering a bit before coming up on a door with the nameplate reading "Shade" I knock and the door opens.

   There was a bark heard and the door opened, Shade in front of us wagging her tail gleefully. "Hello Shade." I greet as I see her. She took in the sight of me, and then when her eyes shifted to Jax she collapsed to the ground, her eyes round with a lot of shock. Jax looked away, feeling ashamed and very very sorry, guilty. His recently overflowing tears returned some, him biting his lip to not start sobbing again.

   Slowly Shade got up and walked over to him, actually it looked like she crawled, and nuzzled his leg, pawing at him as if trying to confirm if an illusion was real. He was. She burst into crying yips, jumping up and tackling a now surprised and happier Jax with doggy kisses and cuddles. I stood there smiling and letting them have their reunion.

   "Ok now the reason we're here. Shade. I have a proposal, would both you and Jax care to return to the land of the living and travel with me?"

   She was grinning that doggy grin of hers, her tail whipping around, probably the fastest I've ever seen, and sat up on the sprawled out Jaxion. "Yes yes yes!" She exclaimed, panting in her excitement of seeing us again. Jaxion was smiling widely, still crying tears that were rather silent, and sat up to hug the tail-whipping Shade who promptly returned to hug with nuzzles.

   "Cute... alright you two, come with me." I say as I begin walking off. Shade woofed and Jaxion laughed, a joyous laugh... I am so very glad I can finally hear that again! They got up and started walking with me, I was trying to focus on getting us all out together somehow when... oh shit. I saw the surroundings splintering and warping, this place is fragmenting, and very quickly!

   I heard gasps from behind me, and could feel Jax trying to grab my arm as the fragments swallowed us up as quickly and as fast as I've ever seen! Nonononononononono! I turned around hoping to any stupid deity out there that Jax and Shade were with me still.... They weren't.... They were gone, again.... I promised them, I promised we would be together now! I'm not prone to breaking promises... Agghhgahhh! I hate this universe, why does this have to happen to us again and again?! WHY?!

   I was angry. So unbelievably angry. If any were to come near me they would've been torn to pieces. I paced and ran around this place of holiness, I hit the walls. Screamed in rage and agony for nearly an hour. After a while I calmed down, though I was still angry. I sighed and went on my desperate search for my family. I left Heaven in ruins, not like it's gonna be here much longer as it is.
