Masks

Broken smiles
And empty eyes
Shattered hearts
And hollow lives

Put on your mask
Prepare your lies
They'll never see
Through your disguise

Just ignore
The awful cries
As your soul runs from
This artificial guise

Hiding yourself
Was never wise
Your heart,
It could compromise

Your mind
It always belies
So claim this
Terrible prize

As your passion
As it surely dies
As your true self
Meets its untimely demise

If a new you
Is to arise
It might just be
Someone you despise

But as long as it's on you
That it relies
Your personality may just not be
In a horrible compromise

You wont be forced to say
Your own goodbyes
You may simply
Continue to rise
