I laughed as I stumbled over the hill and dragged him behind me. The blue sky was littered with clouds and the grass underneath me was decorated with flowers. I looked behind me and grinned, and he just gave me a smile as large as my own. I flopped down on the grass and he did the same. "Ready?" I stopped laughing because this part was actually serious. He looked back at me with a smirk that reached his eyes, "You know I am. Game on." We lined ourselves up and I counted down. "3...2...1...GO!" We took off and it felt amazing. The ground was cool beneath me, the grass tickling my skin as I rolled down. It felt like a rush as I tumbled down the hill. I heard a few grunts next to me while rolling down and laughed in my head. When I stopped moving, I looked up and saw that he was behind me, still rolling around, and laughed. I felt dizzy but in the best way possible. He landed a few feet behind me, and immediately sat up after he stopped. He looked at where I was and groaned at his defeat. " That's ten to zero dude, when will you ever beat me?"  My voice came across loudly in the field as I called out to him. He crawled over to me because he wasn't able to walk yet and frowned. "You cheated, Alex, I know it. I don't understand how I keep losing." He was such a whiny baby sometimes. I pulled his head into my lap and played with his curls while he looked up at me. "I don't even know how to cheat during something like this, how could I?" I tried to look offended by him accusing me of cheating, but then he reached his hand up and flicked my nose softly. "Ow, you jerk, what was that for?" I held my nose in my hands and glared at him. He just shrugged and laughed as he tried to back up his claim. "I don't know, babe, but you always manage to find a way." I snorted and rolled my eyes playfully. "You're just mad I beat you again, you can't just falsely accuse people of cheating you know." He sat up, cupping my face, and smiled, "I know now, you little dork." As I opened my mouth to say something else, he leaned in and kissed me. I closed my eyes, not trusting myself to open them, and when he pulled away, I knew I looked like a mess. "You jerk... that was my first kiss." He looked so happy when I said that and smiled broadly, "Aww, my dork is blushing. You're so cute." I felt my face become even hotter and was about to protest when he pulled me in for another kiss, and in the end, I think it was for the best that I forgot what I was saying.

I jolt awake, my alarm blaring in my ear, and try to shut it off as quickly as possible. After pushing the stop button, I look up to see the damage that I caused. Every morning, I always make a mess on my bed because of my frantic movements. This morning was no different. My glasses ended up on the floor, my blanket kicked halfway onto my chair for my desk, and my phone was flung into my drawer. I let out a deep sigh as I start getting ready.

I check my phone for any important messages and see a few. 6:15 am. I glance at my phone and wince as it turns on from my touch, my eyes struggling to adjust to the bright light so early after waking up. I open up Imessage. Of course, I have a text from Samantha. I squint and see that I also have a text from Mason. I open up Samantha's first.

Sammy: GOOD MORNING LEXIS!!! HURRY UP AND GET TO SCHOOL EARLY!!!

Alex: You sent that at 6 in the morning, what is so important again?

I get up and close my phone, starting to get ready while she replied. I know it wouldn't take long for her to because she's always on her phone, she said it's just in case someone texts her if they need her badly. I don't know what emergency could ever happen, but Samantha likes to be prepared. I finish brushing my teeth and washing my face and got started on my skincare. I used to have really bad acne in middle school, and I've been trying to clear it up for years. Now, my skin is relatively clean and no one pokes fun at me anymore. While patting my face dry, I got a text from Sam.

Sammy: New transfer student? Lexis, I reminded you of this every day of last week, how many times do I have to tell you before something sticks in your brain?
