Jefferson's POV
"Sir. I know you went to see them again, I heard you yelling. Are you alright? Would you like anything?"
I look at her for a moment. Then decide to answer. "Can... Can I have a hug?..." I look at her with almost childish eyes and she smiles a little and walks over then hugs me.
"Of course Mr. Jefferson."
I hug her back firmly with tears in my eyes. We lay down together and she holds me until I fall asleep.
Over time.
Years pass... time flies by... everyone watches each other as they all grow up. Mulligan and his siblings had eventually gotten back into a house with their mother when she could afford it, all were very grateful for Lafayette's housing. They visit him often and have dinner with him. Mulligan became a tailor (finally spelled it right XD) and Lafayette works in a business with Hamilton, Laurens, Jefferson, Burr, and Washington. Washington is the owner of the company and Hamilton met him and had only been working for him for an amount of time, but also got Lafayette in because they were friends and Lafayette needed a job. Laurens had gotten in not long after Hamilton as well.
Jefferson though had gotten worse. He can't stop visiting the graves of his family and has become more depressed and upset over the years, even though asked to, he never takes his hoodie off. The hood is always on, he prefers it that way. The debates are hard though. He's been so good at them, then he met Hamilton, the only one who actually has the same debating mind, which makes him hard to beat.
Hamilton's POV
I walk into the building from my car with my coffee. I swear I saw a doorman but when I shut my eyes and shake my head a little, I open them again to see no one there. I must be hallucinating a little. I haven't slept in 4 days so it would make sense. Then I pass Jefferson. I honestly hate the guy. I have hated him my whole life. He doesn't look as ready to debate as usual though. I must say that he looked better when we were kids. He's got little bags under his eyes. I guess he hasn't slept much either.
As soon as I finish my coffee I go into the coffee room and get some more. I can't fall asleep. I can't. Burr walks in just minutes later.
"Hey Hamilton. How are you?" Burr says.
"Uh. Fine. I'm fine. Just a... little sleepy." I reply
"You look more than 'a little sleepy'"
"I'm okay."
"Alright then. I won't argue with you." Burr takes whatever he grabbed and walks out. Then I hear the door open up again.
"Go away." I moan, just wanting a little time to cope with my own brain for a minute.
"You go away vampire." Jefferson's voice. That was Jefferson's voice, great, just what I needed. A jerk to also process into my head.
"I'm not a vampire."
"You're looking like one. Except you can't stay awake at night like vampires can."
"I'm not a vampire. End of story. Any who you look like you haven't slept either."
"..I'm going through a phase of some kind. I can't sleep and don't know why."
"Awww does the rich man not know how to sleep in his kingdom of a mansion?" I make a bit of a pout face, but I think it looks a little messed up because of how tired I am.
"Shut up."
The room goes silent. We both don't really know what to do and how to do it. I catch a glimpse at him, he doesn't notice, which helps me study him a little more. He looks even more tired when studied. Small bags under his eyes. I notice his eyes starting to move to look at me, so I jolt mine to look back at what I was doing. When it looks like he thinks I wasn't looking at him he turns his head, going to say more.
"So are you going to that party thing tonight?" Jefferson asks.
"Party?" I think for a moment. Then it hits me, the party tonight for the company. "I totally forgot about that. It's here isn't it?" I ask.
"Yeah. Tonight not long after work ends, so we might as well all stay here. Unless some aren't gonna do it or are going somewhere."
"Right." I look back at what I'm doing. I don't even know anymore. Was I only drinking my coffee? Was I contemplating life? Was I going to grab a part a muffin? They always have muffins and things in case either we forgot lunch or just want a snack. But I can't remember if I ever grab a snack or not. I shake my head a little and then look at my coffee, then see Jefferson in the reflection. I study him again, then look up at his face.
"Jefferson."
He looks at me.
"You look-"
"Hello everyone!!!.... or you two!!!"
We both look over to see King. He's told everyone to call him that even though his name is George so we sort of have to otherwise he complains badly. King grabs a banana and part of a muffin and goes to where the tea is. He starts to speak again. "My my the both of you look pale. Have you two been taking proper care of yourselves?" He says.
Jefferson and I look at each other, then back at King. "I think we're fine and can take care of ourselves the way we want to." Jefferson answers.
"Alright then. But if you pass out because lack of proper care then it isn't my fault. See you at the party tonight!" King takes his things and leaves again.
After a few moments I look at Jefferson. "I... I should go back to work." I say.
"Right." Jefferson replies. Then I leave and walk back to my office. I have a fairly big office, some of them are smaller, but some are big, I would say there are more small than big ones though. When I get into my office I shut the door behind me then turn back around, walk to my desk, and set my coffee on it. I look up,
"GAHHH." I scream. A man with blood on his face stands there with a knife in his hand. I close my eyes and shake my head again and he's gone. It takes me a moment to calm down, and when I do I just sit in my desk so that my back is facing a wall and not the open. Then I wonder why I'm hallucinating so much, and why they're so creepy.
