3rd person P.O.V.
It Had been 3 weeks since IT had happened. 3 weeks since Annabeth Chase, the love of his life had died.
***********************************FLASHBACK************************************************
"Annabeth!" Percy yelled from across the beach "Behind you!" Annabeth turned just in time to block an attack. After the war with Gaia, the Demi-gods of Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter Had become friends and often spent time tighter. Percy thought everything was perfect, Leo was Back, and alive! And he even managed to free Calypso and bring her back. It was awkward at first but we quickly became friends.
The Demi-gods from Camp Jupiter were visiting Camp Half-Blood for the fourth of July because supposedly Leo was throwing an awesome firework show on the beach to make up for scaring us all to death. Even though I guess he technically did die. Anyway, the night was going so perfectly so, of course, that night was the night everything went completely wrong.
All of a sudden there were screams and yells everywhere and then Percy saw them, monsters everywhere. It was a sneak attack! There were so many monsters that Percy got separated from the rest of the 7, Nico, and Reyna. There were so many monsters that not even Annabeth would have even been able to name.
Slowly one by one the group of monsters around Percy decreased until there was none immediately in front of him. He looks around to survey the damage of the attack. That's when he heard it. An ear-piercing scream. One that Percy knew too well. "Wise Girl!" He shouted, fighting through monsters trying to get to his Wise Girl.
As soon as Percy saw Annabeth he immediately saw what was wrong. Her abdomen was bleeding and her leg was bent in an odd angle as she sat on the ground fighting a hellhound with nothing but a dagger she had found. Percy, without thinking, threw Riptide at the Hellhound and hit it right in the side as it burst into dust Percy reached Annabeth. "Percy?" Annabeth asked weakly.
"Oh gods Annabeth," Percy started.
"Really? That bad?" Annabeth said with her usual sarcasm although it was weak. Percy gives a weak smile.
"Wise Girl, have you seen yourself lately? You're bleeding from your stomach and I'm pretty sure your leg is broken."
"Is that all? Not too bad if I do say so myself." Percy still had a worried look on his face. "Seaweed brain, I'm fine. Just help me-AHH" Annabeth gives a yell of pain.
"WHAT? WHAT IS IT?" Percy asked frantically.
"My stomach-" she manages. Percy realizes that her wound was worse than Percy thought. Annabeth gave a gasp of pain as she collapsed backward. Percy barely managed to Catch her and laid her head in his lap. "Percy-"
"Shh you'll be okay, you'll be fine. Just hold on." Percy says soothingly before looking around desperately. HELP! HELP I NEED A MEDIC!" Percy yelled.
"Percy-" Annabeth tried again as her eyelids started to flutter shut.
"Hey wise girl stay with me, don't go to sleep. Just stay awake. You hear me? don't go to sleep." Annabeth's eyes continued to droop, and Percy had to resolve to violently shake her shoulder. "Wise Girl! Stay awake! Stay with me! You are not leaving me! Just stay with me alright? Please-" Percy couldn't hold it in anymore. He starts crying. " P-please, I can't do this without you," he says through sobs. Annabeth reached up and brushed a tear from Percy's face.
"Seaweed Brain-" Annabeth's voice was barely a whisper but Percy was still somehow able to hear her over the screaming of the falling demigods and monsters alike. Oh right, Percy thought, there's still a battle going on. But at that moment, nothing else in the world mattered but Annabeth.
"Y-Yes Wise Girl?" he says as he gently leaned down and kissed Annabeth's brow.
" d-d-don't mourn for me, move on-" she starts.
"No don't you dare talk like that you are not leaving me!" he says in between sobs.
"Shh it's- it's ok, it's ok, please don't cry Seaweed Brain, don't cry, don't mourn for me, swear on the river Styx that you will not mourn for me, that you will move on. Promise me, Percy!"
"I-I can't, y-you know I can't," Percy Says. Annabeth gives a small smile.
" I know, just thought I should try. Please, tell the rest of the seven, Thalia, Nico, Grover, Tyson, Reyna, And even Coach Hedge, that I love them and will miss them."
"I-I-will, that I can promise. But Wise Girl I-"
"No, let me finish, most of all, I will miss you. Gods Percy, you stupid Seaweed Brain I love you so, so much, never forget that." she takes a breath, closes her eyes, and with her dying breath, she says " I love you Seaweed Brain" and with that, Annabeth's body goes limp. Percy shook her "Annabeth? Annabeth? No, nononono, NO!!!!" Percy screamed in rage, as tears streamed down his face.
After what felt like an eternity to the poor boy, which was actually only a few minutes, he gently kissed Annabeth one last time and laid her down as a scream of rage escaped his lips. Rage, For he had just lost the love of his life, his world, but most importantly, his best friend. The son of Poseidon raged into battle like a madman, killing any monster that dared to cross his path.
***************************Time skip*******************************************
After the fight, everyone started asking Percy about Annabeth and where she was but he said nothing as he frantically searched for her body, but could find no trace. Percy collapsed into the sand and started to cry. Everyone was in shock because Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, never cried. Piper was the first to step up and say anything for the first time since he had broken down.
"Percy?" Piper asked as she slowly walked towards Percy, using charm speak, but not much. "Percy? Where's Annabeth?" Percy sobbed louder and when Piper knelt down next to him, he just grabbed onto her and cried. Eventually, Percy managed to get out a quiet, "She-She's gone." Everyone looked at Hazel and Nico for confirmation. The two look at each other and silently nod.
"Wha-what were her last words?" Jason stuttered after a long silence, Piper shook her head at her boyfriend while still holding a sobbing Percy. Jason cleared his throat and tried again, "What were her last words?"
Percy shook his head and in between sobs simply said "Not now".
"Well-" Frank said quietly "Where is her...um...you know.....body?" Percy's only response was simply, "Gone." After they calmed Percy down enough to stand, they searched for her body for hours, but the son of the sea god was right, Annabeth's corpse was nowhere to be seen.
**************************End of flashback************************
Now, 3 weeks later they had finally given up searching for her body. Today was the day they announced her dead. Camp Jupiter had decided to stay for the burning of her shroud.
Many Demigods were severely injured but none were killed; only his Wise Girl had the misfortune of dying. Percy had been distant ever since she had died. Now, three weeks later it was time for the ceremony and Percy was the first to say something. Percy thought about just how unlucky his and Annabeth's lives truly were. However, the only thing that ran through his mind was a phrase he remembered writing a long time ago. Back when he first found out he was a half-blood.
"Being a half-blood is dangerous. It's scary. most of the time, it gets you killed in painful, nasty ways."
