There was a place which seemed heaven-like. It was beautiful, full of clouds and light. This place would have the most breathtaking sunsets, cool nights and warm days. It was like a paradise. This place was also full of angels, men and women of all sorts. Among the countless residents were two angels who stood out in particular. They looked like all the others, except they had golden robes instead of pure white. One was white-skinned, and the other, black.

They pointed to an angel from the crowd. "You there! Get over here!"

"Me?" The angel answered, to which the other two nodded. He approached them and they fed his curiosity, "apparently, you've had a human assigned to you."

"Really? Today?"

"Yes", the black angel responded, "you start going on duty today. We'll give you a folder, and this folder contains basic information on your human, rules of Angelkind, and other procedures. You may like going through all the punishments for each rule..."

"Punishable by death? Then eternity in the Depths? This is insane!"

"Yeah well, we didn't ask for your opinion," the first white angel said, "You'd better go to the Human's Realm now, or Boss'll get mad at you."

"Fine, fine. I'll go."

The angel proceeded to find the exit to the Angel's Realm and the entrance to the Human's Realm. He finally found it, and the exit looked like a mirror of sorts, reflecting his image on a pond-like surface. He touched it, causing the portal to ripple like water. As he stepped inside, or rather, outside of the Angel's Realm, he turned back and looked at his home one last time.

NIKS tossed and turned in her bed all night, unable to sleep because of worrying for her aunt. She decided that when she woke, she would immeadiately go to the hospital to check on Vanessa. Morning came and NIKS started fufilling her promise to herself. She got to the hospital and sat at the waiting room, nervously shaking her leg out of habit. A few minutes later, her name was called. That was fast, she thought to herself as the nurse guided her. For some reason, Dr. Hayes stood outside of Vanessa's room, silent. NIKS approached him.

"Hello, Dr. Hayes! How's my aunt doing today?"

Hayes jumped a bit at NIKS' sudden words. "Oh dear Lord, you scared me! And, about your aunt, well..."

"Yes?"

Dr. Hayes stayed silent as he got a key from his lanyard and unlocked the door. He opened it and NIKS stepped inside. She saw her aunt laying in bed, and turned her focus onto the heart monitor beside it. It was showing a single straight line, followed by a single long beep.

"No..."

"Nikki, I'm sorry, but your aunt has passed away-"

"No! I don't believe this! This has got to be a sick joke, hasn't it?"

"Ms. Scars, this is a hospital. We wouldn't do that to our patient's family members. Your aunt is really dead. She couldn't survive all the brutal injuries caused to her, along with some medical problems she's had before."

NIKS' eyes welled with tears as she fell on her knees next to her aunt. She buried her head near her aunt's side, sobbing harshly into the hospital bed sheets. "You can't be dead! You just can't! This can't be real!" NIKS kept crying as Dr. Hayes left the room, leaving NIKS alone with what was left of her only beloved family member. She cried harder as she tightly gripped the bed sheets, "There was so much that we had to do! So many places to go! You can't be gone!"
