Thursday
As we walk into Starbucks my eyes, out of habit, scan the small coffee shop. Although, this time I'm looking for a specific head of curls. We've sort of had a thing going on this week, Hannah goes to the bathroom, he comes over, we talk, he leaves. I've kind of grown to love his company. Except for yesterday. He's sweet, not in anyway what people say he is. Except for yesterday. Harry always compliments me on my eyes and my plain jeans and tee. Except for yesterday. I'm not trying to impress anyone. Yet.. maybe. I spotted him easily, as usual, he had his nosed stuffed in his notebook.
Hannah and I make our way up to the barista, giving our orders to the blonde boy behind the counter, who's name tag reads 'Alec'.
"What will it be today, switchie?" He asks smiling. I let out a small giggle at the nickname he gave me, I never get the same drink. I like to try new things.
"Uhh, let's see. I think I'll try the," I quickly glance up at the board listing the drinks, "a caramel-mocha frappé, please." I ask smiling, and handing Alec my card.
"Great choice, you check out the secret menus, I see." He asks, sliding my card. After he slides it, and he waits for my receipt to print. When it does, he pulls a pen out of the mug on the side and writes something on the back of the receipt. He hands me the change and the receipt, and shoots me a wink. I smile, Hannah and I turn to go pick up our drinks.
"Oh my god! Did you see that, he was totally flirting! What did he write on the receipt?" She asks, nearly jumping out on her shoes.
I flipped over the receipt, reading it. "He wrote his number, aw, what a cutie." I said folding the receipt, and stuffing it in my back pocket.
We grabbed our drinks and slid into our usual booth. Hannah reached straight for her KAVU, pulling out her notebook. My butt suddenly vibrated, making me jump ten feet in the air. I'm definitely not being dramatic either. I pull out my phone, looking over the text and ID.
From Harry:
"Stay away from him."
I look over to Harry, he's clutching his stomach I laughter. At my expense, may I add. Bastard. His eyes meet mine and he stiffens, his laughter no where in sight. What the hell? This kid is the most confusing being I have ever met. He motions towards my phone, and I go back and reply.
To Harry:
"Who are you to tell me who I can can talk to, and who I can't? Not like you know the him."
From Harry:
"Neither do you, Ash."
My heart flutters at the nickname, everyone calls me it but I like him called me that. Ugh. Shut up, Ashton. He pissed you off, and scared you yesterday. Stay focused on what you're still going on that date with him for. I bring my eyes back to him, to give him the worst glare I can manage, but he's not looking at me any more. He's on the phone. Pretty heated conversation if I do say so myself.
His eyebrow furrow together as he shoots up from his seat, making the chair legs screech against the tile. I cringe, covering my ears in pain. Did he really have to do that. As I recoil from my position, I catch a glimpse of him busting through the doors and running to his car.
"What the hell was that all about?" Hannah almost shrieks, uncovering her ears.
I turn to look at her, "I have no clue, but we're going to find out. Come on." I get up quickly.
Her eyes bulge out of her head so bad I'm scared there gonna pop like an over inflated balloon.
"Hannah, stop, that's freaky. NOW COME ON." I nearly yell while grabbing her arm and tugging her to the car.
