"Chase, he is vaking up."

I slowly cracked my eyes open to find myself lying in bed with Schneep sitting next to me, Chase jogging down the hall into the bedroom.

"You lost a lot of blood, how are you feeling?" Schneep prompted me, my uninjured hand weakly moving to form a thumbs up before limply flopping back down onto the bed.

"I think not. Okay, I already told Doctor Iplier zhat I vill come into vork later, but you need to go Chase so you don't get into more trouble for not being at vork." Schneep directed the male, Chase hesitating before leaving my house.

I bolted up into a sitting position as I felt my stomach churn violently, my breakfast crawling back up my throat as I staggered to the bathroom.

My knees gave out next to the toilet as I threw up, my body shaking with the effort it took to remain upright as Schneep chased after me.

"You're okay mein friend." Schneep assured me as he rubbed my back in soothing circles, moving a few stray strands of hair out of my face before finding another rag and soaking it in cold water to place on the back of my neck.

I rested my head against the wall and closed my eyes, focusing on taking calming breaths as my empty stomach continued to churn.

"You need to rest." Schneep directed with a grunt as he helped me to my feet, my arm slung around his shoulder so I could stumble towards my bed.

I tried to move my hands to sign that I could walk by myself, but my limbs felt like they were made of concrete as I laid down in bed.

"If you need me, I'll be in the living room." Schneep told me as he sat my hat down on the bed before leaving, his lab coat fluttering out behind him as he disappeared out of sight.

I let out a silent sigh as I rolled over so I was facing the window of my room, my heart leaping to my throat when I saw William in the window.

He waved at me with a grin as he pulled the window open, creeping inside before closing it behind him.

"Hello again Jameson, I heard about what happened at your job." William remarked quietly as he sat on the edge of my bed, pushing me down when I tried to sit up.

"You're probably wondering how I found you." William continued, the male standing up before he looked back at me.

"The bartender says that you're a regular, he was able to give me your address with a bit of...persuasion." Wilford explained casually.

William paused when he saw the rag wrapped around my hand, his chocolate brown eyes shining with concern as he sat back down next to me and carefully took my hand to examine it.

"What happened?" William questioned as I managed to pull my hand free from his, the wound throbbing in response.

"Jameson-"

Schneep broke off when he noticed William sitting on my bed, his gaze shifting from gentle to angry as he stormed over to William and dragged him away from me by the collar of his shirt.

"I don't know who you are, and I don't care. Don't you dare hurt mein friend, or I swear zhat I vill break every bone in your body." Schneep threatened in a growl before shoving him towards the door, William casting a glance back at me as he was roughly escorted out of the house.

"Zhis motherfucker!" Schneep cursed as the door slammed shut, the German stomping down the hall and into my room with a scowl.

I frowned as I put my index finger and thumb together, raising my three fingers before pointing at him.

"I'm okay Jameson, whoever zhat is just..." Schneep trailed off with a weary sigh as he removed the rag from my hand, wrapping a clean bandage around it before returning to the living room.

While I sat in bed, I wrote down everything I was thinking, occasionally glancing out the window.

Time passed by in a crawl as I spent what felt like hours lying in bed, unable to sleep as I thought of the expedition I was once so certain of joining, a part of me still interested even though I knew that William was insane.

"Eat up, you need your strength."

I was startled out of my thoughts by Schneep entering the room with a bowl of soup in hand, his expression warm like the steaming contents in the bowl as he sat down on the edge of the bed.

I managed to sit up and take the bowl from Schneep, my hands trembling as I managed to get a spoonful of soup and blow on it.

"Hm, zhe unsteadiness from blood loss should be gone by now...are you nervous about something?" Schneep questioned worriedly as he carefully took the bowl from me.

I bit my lip while I looked around for my journal and pen, showing the German what I had written about my first encounter with William.

"I see...vell, I agree zhat you need to get away for a vhile, but you shouldn't go vith zhat psychopath on a safari hunt." Schneep stated firmly.

With that, Schneep moved the journal and pen away from me before feeding me spoonfuls of soup despite my protests, the German seeming to enjoy taking care of me.

"Now, keep resting. I have to go to vork, but if zhat man returns, you call me." Schneep directed sternly, taking the empty bowl away.

I let my head fall back against the pillow once more and glanced out the window, a part of me expecting to see William's face in the window as I fell asleep.
