Elsie Harrington closed the door behind her as she stepped into her messy little flat."You're home early."
Logan appeared in the front room/kitchen which was one space. He wasn't dressed, only wearing a t-shirt and underwear.
"Yeah. I'm planning to quit."
"Good! That's what I've been saying!" Logan steps up to her, pulling her into a strange hug. "That guy really is awful, huh?"
"Yeah."
Elsie went about her evening in complete silence. Her head was pounding. She'd been so excited to start this job and now she was letting some D list actor bully her out of it. All she wanted was a conversation with her Mum, that would put the world to rights.
"You're quiet."
someone's prissy little doormat of a girlfriend
"I'm okay."
"Come on, I wanna see that smile." He put his hands on her waist.
Y'know you're the first face I have to see every morning, the least you can do is smile.
She does. Her head screams at her to go and get some sleep as she feels exhausted already. Somehow, Logan is the last person she wanted to see right now. Which isn't how you ought to feel about your partner.
"I'm gonna get some rest."
"I can think of a couple things better than resting?" he smirked, looking down at her. Elsie just laughed it off.
The truth was she hadn't been in love with Logan for some time now. There wasn't anything necessarily bad about him. He never hurt her. He was clingy sometimes, texting her all day. He didn't work, Elsie's income supported them both. And- well she wasn't happy.
"Seriously Els, we haven't slept together in ages." He complained leaning in to kiss her.
"I'm sorry. I just- I don't want to right now." She pulled away.
"You never want to. What's wrong?"
She broke away from him and walked in the opposite direction.
"I'm sorry but I have to go and look for a new job since you refuse to get one and I don't feel like being out on the street." Elsie's tone was colder than it had been all week.
"Don't take your shitty career choices out on me. I'm just between jobs right now and besides, not everyone is desperate to work their life away, Elsie." He retaliated.
"Yeah but you have to work a bit, Logan. You know, like the bare minimum to at least feed and house yourself. The only thing that does that is my wage and now I won't have one for at least a month. God, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I can't do because of you and the co-worker from hell breathing down my neck. I can't afford to have another mental breakdown but we won't be able to afford the flat if you won't get a fucking job."
"Why should I have to get a job when yours pays so well? That's why I moved here, right? For you." Logan paced as the couple argued. "I can't believe you're putting this all on me. You should- You need to go."
"I'm sorry?"
"Get out. I don't wanna look at you."
"Logan, this is my flat! I'm the one who pays the rent and all the stuff in here, I bought! It belongs to me and you aren't kicking me out." Elsie stood her ground with a harsh tone and finality in her voice.
"No. You're never here anyway. Find somewhere else to live! I'm done with you. You never look happy to see me. You never want to have sex with me. There's never any food in the house. I'm sick of this one sided bullshit." He started shouting and getting into Elsie face.
This wasn't worth it.
She knew Logan's temper and though he'd never hurt her before, they'd never fought like this and it was impossible to see the outcome.
After staring at each other for a moment longer, Elsie grabbed her coat.
"One sided. Yeah, me too. You won't be able to afford this place, you know." She said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Why, the rent isn't going up." He was serious.
"Because I won't be paying it anymore." Elsie crossed her arms.
"Well, you can't make me leave."
"Do you really think I'd keep paying for your home? You're an idiot, Logan. Go ahead and squat, if you like. But you'll have no water and electricity." The process of eviction could take a while, but given that Logan wasn't an tenant, it shouldn't take too long.
"You're a bitch. I moved here for you and you're making me homeless."
"You're making yourself homeless by not getting a job." She muttered and rubbed her temple at his mental gymnastics.
"So I have to live on the streets because you lost yours? You're just dragging me down with you." The sheer entitlement was incredible. To the point that she nearly laughed at how outrageous this was.
Elsie would call the providers in the morning to shut off her household. It could save a little bit of money but not paying her electricity or water bill for the next month or so. That could go towards accommodation. For for now she had no where.
"If you damage my property, steal it or try anything, I'll drag your arse to a courtroom and I'll win. So don't try me. I'm done being your bank, Logan. Fuck you." Elsie marched away. Back to the only place she could think to go.
