Years After
Yuri
I watched from the top of the bridge as the cars and other forms of vehicle emits black smokes as the traffic got even heavier. People walking side by side with mask on their faces for the pollution had gone pretty out of hand. People from the past would always predict that around 2098 life would be more techy and what-not. But guess what?
They were right.
Everything was a lot more techy-ish than it was from years before.
Cars were now powered with electricity and huge air cleaners had been invented. Pollution had gotten in control. Teleporters had been invented and gaming had gone to a different level, pretty much like what people predicted.
Yes.
Life had gone pretty awesome.
But not on this side of the city.
Those mentioned above? Those were only given to the fortunate. To those people who could afford them.
A lot happened from years before this development.
And guess what?
The caste system is back.
Royal bloods and priest of sort are the one who rules this whole system. The dukes ,middle-classes, and other snobbish shits are the ones who gets all the tech. The less fortunate ones? Goes down here.
It's either they will meet the poor fate of being a slave or the poor working-class who works themselves just to survive the everyday life but still gets nothing for their children when they die.
The difference with the two?
The poor working class still has a little bit of rights not to be molested or what-not and a little bit of freedom. The slaves got none, their masters owns them. Whatever their masters do, they can't do anything but to follow.
Luckily I'm on the poor working class, well not really since I'm still in high school but that's still the future I'll be facing after graduating. School, Work, Dies. My life.
I sighed through my face mask and stared at the huge television on a building. News flashing about the government or whatever you call that are hunting Humans with special kind of abilities,
'If you happen to encounter one please contact us immediately. They are not to be taken lightly...'
By special kind, they need to be specific though. I thought and scoffed.
I stretched my tired limbs before finally deciding to go home to that rundown place that I own. Those were freebies given to the working class, I used to live with my father but he died seven months ago. It was kinda sad but that's literally life. We can't really do anything about it.
The streets were all crowded considering that it was now 5:30 in the evening, time for the night-shifter to work and the students to go home. I could see teens who wears the same uniform as mine from here to there.
School.
That too. It's like a training ground for us. We actually only have two schools around, one for the future members of the development shits or the ones who works in the factory and what-not and the other one is for those who will work in the office to help those on top of the caste system. Not like they were given higher salary than those who works in the factory. I'm on the factory one.
It's boring.
I thought as I eyed the holographic traffic lights with pure boredom. Strangers were standing with me side by side, strangers who were'probably having thoughts like mine. Our lives' the exact definition of the word unfortunate.
I diverted my eyes from the traffic lights to the people who were on the other side of the street. But something caught my eyes.
A boy.
He's probably around my age , is standing on the other side of the street almost on the same spot as mine. His blood red hair covers his other eye, the other one kinda looks like gold from where I was standing, but that isn't the thing that caught me. It is the fact that he wasn't wearing any mask like the others. He was eyeing the traffic lights with lazy eyes.
I could tell that he wasn't one of the working class for the clothes that he wears. He's pretty much on the top of the system.
No one seems to notice him.
which was odd since aside from not wearing any mask (Which's really dangerous) He is also one of the fortunate ones, which we rarely see.
The lights turned red in almost in cue everyone started walking including me, he on the other hand remain on his place , His eyes still fixed on the holographic lights. He seemed to be saying something.
Odd. I thought.
Then something strange happened.
As I got closer to where he is, all the sounds seems to slowly fade.
Little by little.
until none could be heard.
This was when I was already standing beside him , with me facing north and him facing south.
Everything seemed to had dissapeared. It almost seemed like there was only him and me.
Chime.
I heard a single bell chime .
Chime.
The sudden rushed of sound almost made me lose my balance. I hold my head as it started to throb painfully. I inhaled a breath. Blink and rub my eyes.
What the hell did just happened?
My mind was still kinda hazy as I turned around trying to get a glimpse of a blood red hair, but I couldn't anymore. Not specially with these pool of people around.
