|08.| IN MY VEINS

IN THE ROOM where Klaus is keeping the jawbone Cora found inside a salt circle, Melody circles the round table while intently staring at the bone. Her twin sister stares at her confused and scared as she notices her facial expression isn't the friendliest. Cora looks around downstairs for the girls while holding Koen's hand, and she sees her oldest circling around. She rushes over to the girl and takes her hand.

"Melody, what's going on?" Cora asks worriedly.

"Mom? Can you hear them, too?" Melody tilts her head.

Instinctively, Cora pulls both her and Hope's hand so that they're close to her. Koen nudges his head into his mother's side, frightened by his sister's movements. As if on queue, Klaus rushes into the room to check on his family.

"What's going on?"

"Look at me." Cora moves Melody's head to face her. "Tell me what you heard."

"Voices. They said that we're connected to this. You, Hope, Koen..." Melody looks at her siblings and back at her mother. "..me."

"If this fossil has been whispering lies, I'll gladly throw it in the river." Klaus points at the bone.

"No. Not the bone." Melody stops him for doing such a thing. "The witches. The Ancestors. They have a message for us. A warning."

"Tell me what they said," Cora urges her while holding her arms.

"They want you to go to St. Anne's Church to talk to them. They said you have to do exactly what they say, and you have to do it now." Melody slowly turns back around to look at the jawbone, watching it stop spinning on the table. "Before the Hollow comes for us."

"You need to relax." Damon walks out of a small gas station, on the phone with Klaus. "I'm on my way to New Orleans right now. And I have good news. I went through the remains of the Lockwood estate, and I found you one creepy-ass, ancient finger bone. Are you suddenly an osteologist?"

"Why does it matter? Your efforts are appreciated. Now, if you could only pick up the pace." Klaus says sternly while walking down the steps from the study.

"Easy, Klaus. The only reason I'm heading your way is because I don't want you anywhere near Mystic Falls. Things tend to get murder-y when you're around," Damon scoffs and walks towards his car. "And I want to see my nieces and nephew. And, of course, my sister."

"Well, that's a fair point. Now, Damon, if our pleasantries have run their course..."

"Oh, hey, listen, one more thing." Damon cuts him off from further talking. "The Lockwoods, they didn't just safeguard the bone. They kept records with names, dates and locations."
