|20.| SET FIRE TO THE RAIN

HIS EYES SHOOT OPEN abruptly, remembering the feeling of his neck being snapped out of nowhere and now he lies on the cold ground of his home. The courtyard was much darker, blue in color, and the weather outside alarming the hybrid with the sound of thunder rolling. He pushes himself up onto his feet and heads straight for the exit until he is blown back by the strong force trapping him inside. Klaus manages to land on his feet without any harm, however his heart stopped at the presence of someone he didn't want to be near.

"It's no use." Klaus slowly turns around to see Elijah appearing around a corner looking unbothered.

"You stay away from me," Klaus grumbles, despising the sight of the brother he disowned.

"Oh, believe me, I'm not here 'cause I enjoy the pleasure of your company. There's no way out," Elijah explains and walks closer to the hybrid, stopping just a few feet away from him.

"We're trapped."

The hybrid walks along the home, knowing exactly what kind of situation he is in and decides to brainstorm ways of getting out. It would only make things easier on him if he knew who is dealing the cards. Klaus walks out onto the balcony to stare out into the dark city, watching the ghostly streets with pieces of paper blow in the window and beads dangling from balconies just across from him.

"Every last exit is sealed." Klaus shuts his eyes in annoyance of the voice. "If you're thinking about jumping, don't. I already tried it. I landed in the world's most pretentious wine cellar."

"You sorted it by vintage." Klaus turns around in a dash and approaches Elijah, only receiving a confused look. "You don't remember, do you? I thought Marcel was intent on retrieving your memories."

"He was. He failed," Elijah exclaims and squints his eyes. "I still remember absolutely nothing, and Antoinette is dying."

"Is she?" Klaus asks with a hint of sarcasm. "Right. Yes. I'd forgotten."

"What the hell are we doing here? What is this place?" Elijah gestures around the room they stand in. "This is dangerous, you and I here together."

"We're not actually here together, are we? Not physically, at least." Klaus rolls his eyes his at the fact that he needs to explain what's happening. "It's called a Chambre de Chasse. It's a magical mental prison designed to resemble our home. But don't worry. There's always a way out..A game or a riddle."

"How do we solve this riddle?"

"We don't do anything. We're square, you and I." Klaus slowly approaches the vampire and glares at him. "You got Cora killed, and Antoinette will die because of me. I would hate to upset that delicate balance. So I'm gonna find my way out, and you're on your own."
