I remember watching from the shadows, the day my best friend was felled. I was to retrieve the amulet should he actually be defeated, as I am the one being living in Troll market that can thrive in the sun. I watched as he fought Bular, right to the Sunrise on the land above our home. Both grew weary as time went on, and Kanjigar was losing ground.
I watched him knock Bular off his feet, desperate to finish the fight. It was not possible. Bular cornered Kanjigar with the sunrise and made him retreat to the underbridge. I had been ordered to stay hidden, or I would have helped my brother in arms defeat the cowardly Gum-Gum, as I had many times before. But, that was not my duty. The sun rose higher in the sky, as I watched Bular give Kan a choice. The sun or the blade. It was at that moment I knew, my best friend was not going to get out of there alive. I almost cried out, when our mentor, Blinkous stopped me. I couldn't change the tide.
My best friend, glared at Bular one last time, before sacrificing himself to the sun, and turning to stone; crashing on the ground and shattering. I watched as Bular tried to go after the Amulet, but the sun was too high in the sky. Tears filled my eyes as I turned away from what was left of my best friend, as I calculated how long it would be until I was able to go outside and retrieve the amulet. The potion would wear off in one horn, so I was going to have to wait, and watch.
