Chapter 1 - Where It All Started

Hey y'all! This is my first story so yeah, I just type whatever goes in my mind. So yeah... :) Enjoy reading! :) sorry if the other chapters are really short :P

CHAPTER 1

Hey, my name is Michael Carter, 16 years old, a Senior, from Charlotte, North Carolina. And most people know me as a nerd. I'm not much of a popular person. I'm just known cause of all the awards I get at the end of the school year. I normally just sit alone in one corner. But I have a few friends. Not that many though. My friends are part of the popular crowd. But I don't hang out with them that much. And I've been in love with this girl named Maddie Sullivan for quite a while now. I think it was about at Freshman year. She's a cheerleader, and she's one of those popular people. But I'm too afraid to tell her because she's with one of my friends, Bryan Clark. And they've been together since Junior year.

*school bell rings*

"Hey Michael!" Bryan screams

"Yeah?" I said to him

"Me and Maddie's anniversary is coming. Could you help me choose a gift for her? Maybe this afternoon, after school?" he asked.

"Umm... Yeah, sure... " I replied.

"Awesome man! Thanks!" he said with a smile and ran off.

It hurts to know that their anniversary is coming. And the fact that Bryan asked me to help him to find a gift. 

Me and Bryan are here at the Northlake Mall searching for a gift for Maddie for their 1st year together as a couple. Bryan actually isn't one of those loyal boyfriends. Him and Maddie had a lot of fights. Maddie caught Bryan cheating a lot of times. But she usually would just go and cry it out to her friends. And Bryan would just say sorry and everything will be okay again. But if I were Maddie's boyfriend, I would never cheat or hurt her. I would be loyal to her.

"Hey! What do you think about this one?" he said to me pointing at the heart necklace with a small diamond on the top right.

"It looks nice..." I said.

"Then I guess I'm buying her this one." he said with a smile

"Hey when is your anniversary anyway?" I asked with a curious look on my face.

"It on the 23rd." he replied

"Oh.. Just three days away eh?" I said

"Yeah I know! I can't wait to give this to her." he said with a smile.

 Three more days 'til Maddie and Bryan's anniversary. Man, this hurts a lot. But I can't do anything. They're together and he's my friend so I won't steal her away from him. Besides, I know she would never like me.

NEXT DAY

Two more days 'til their anniversary. I saw Maddie at lunch today, first with her friends then Bryan came from her back and surprised hug her. I can see how they look so happy together. And here I am again, wishing she was mine. But I know that could only happen in my dreams.

"Hey Michael!" Bryan screamed.

"Yup?" I said.

"You wanna come with us? Gonna watch a movie maybe?" he asked.

"With who?" I asked.

"The usual people. But this time Maddie's coming" he said.

"R-really..? M-Maddie's coming..?" I said nervously.

"Yeah, so you coming?" he asked

"Umm... Okay.." I replied

"Aight! See ya man!" he replied with a smile.

When I arrived at the theatre, I saw Bryan and Maddie. I came up to them..

"Hey man! Where are the others?" I asked.

"They backed out, last minute." he said

"What?! Why?" I asked with a shock.

"I don't know. So tonight it looks like it's just gonna be you, me and my girl." he replied with a smile as he looked at Maddie.

"You guys are partners... Who's gonna be my partner then?" I asked.

he laughs and says "Well looks like you're on solo tonight, bro" 

So the night wasn't so good. I was with them and they were partners and I was alone. Like I was their P.A.

NEXT DAY

One more day 'til Bryan and Maddie's anniversary.

*cellphone beeps*

"1 New Message from Bryan"

"I'm having a party at my house tomorrow night to celebrate me and Maddie's anniversary. You coming?" says at the text message.

"Sure man. I'll be there." I replied

"Aight! See ya man!" he replied back.
