I shoved the last few clothes needed for my escape into my backpack and jumped out of my bedroom window hoping no one heard the crunching of the twigs beneath my feet.
I began to run.... not because i was a coward.. but because i needed to be free...... free from my wicked , horrid and callous step mom ....
Before my mom passed away, she told me never to run away from my fears but rather to face them. I did try to hold on to those words but after my dad married another woman, my life turned completely upside down.
My Step mom maltreated me. She would daily hit me with a long hard cane and often talk harsh and heartless words to me. Most nights she would send me to bed without dinner...... i mean... she was just bent on making my life miserable to the point where i wondered if she was actually human..
I told my dad about her beastly behaviour, but he didnt believe me. He saw her as a saint.. which frustrated me....after enduring two long and painful years with her...i made up my mind to run away...... not that i knew where i was going.
I stopped running to catch my breath. I found myself in a deserted area.... no more houses or roads.... all i could see was a vast grass area.I looked around to make sure i wasn't followed. I was cold, hungry and desperately in search of somewhere where i could sleep that night.
I searched tiredlessly but ended up sleeping on the grass among the branches, leaves and bugs.....

I heard the faint sound of a siren in a distance"Great" i sighed frustatedly "... police are after me"
I began to run as fast as my legs could take me... but to no avail... i was overtaken by a blue and white police car...
To my surprise, my wicked step mom came out of from the back seat...
She had a deadly glare on her face.
"You moron". Ma Edi spat . You can run... but you can never hide" she growled lowly as she whacked me hard with her cane.. Pain shot through my body and i cried out in agony.
"You can run.. but you can never hide" Ma Edi's voice echoed in my head as i blacked out
I woke up suddenly ....
''you can run... but you can never hide" Ma Edi's voice was ringing in my head, sweat trickling down my face.
"It was only a nightmare" i frowned as i removed the leaves that were tangled in my hair.

I freshened up and decided to carry on my journey to the unknown destination.
" This should leads somewhere " i said to myself, trying to navigate my way around.
After walking for 3½ hours in the boiling and blazing heat of the sun.. i began to grow weary and faint, i was desperately in need of water, my legs were aching and my spirit was discouraged.
"Maybe, im a little lost" i sighed as fear creeped its way slowly into my heart.
I continued walking, wandering around until i couldnt carry myself anymore...my surrounding began to fade before my eyes, before i knew what was happening, i had fainted......
