In the town of Greendale, where it always felt like Halloween, there lived a girl who is half-witch, and half-mortal, who, on her sixteenth birthday, would have to choose between two worlds. The witch world of her family, and the mortal world of her friends.

That girl is my sister. Twin actually, Sabrina. Though we are twins, I was born mortal, only learning what I could about my family's faith from books and my aunts. It was unclear how I was to be raised given the situation. My aunt Hilda always said the Dark Lord could embrace me as is Sabrina but who knows.

I was reading when I heard music coming from downstairs. When I went down Sabrina had music on and was dancing.

"So what's the celebration?" I asked, laughing at her. She turned around and smiled at me.

"Harvey told me he loves me. Bells."

"Really?" I gave her a big smile. "Oh my Lucifer. Sabrina that's incredible." I gave her a hug and could feel how happy she was. Shortly after we parted ways and to bed for the night.

The next morning I was eating breakfast before school when Sabrina came downstairs with a box.

"Good morning Aunties, Ambrose, Sebella." She said sat down by Aunt Zelda.

"Morning darling, how did you sleep?" Aunt Hilda asked her.

"Tempestuously (A/N sometimes I hate the words Zelda uses -.-) by the sound of it." Aunt Zelda said.

"Now that you mention it Aunt Zee, I did wake up once or twice. It's an exciting time...." She grabbed the necklace from Harvey, "In more ways than one."

"Hmmm, I remember the week before my dark baptism. It felt as if my real life were finally beginning. I barley slept."

All this talk about everyone's dark baptisms really depresses me. Word was sent to the council about me and they've said all can do is pray to the dark lord about what to do with me. It sucks not being able to follow my fathers legacy.

"Rabbit feet, under your pillow tonight, you'll sleep like the dead." Aunt Hilda told Sabrina, giving her her breakfast.

"Speaking of the dead, a bat flew into my room last night." Sabrina said holding up a shoe box, which I assumed had said bat inside. "Smashed through one of my windows."

"Oooh want me to bring it back?" Ambrose jumped from his book.

"Ooh do it." I said.

"No, Ambrose, we'll have non of your necromancy. And Sebella stop encouraging it." Aunt Zelda said.

"Is it ok if I bury it in the garden?" Sabrina asked.

"Yes. As you wish." Aunt Hilda said coming over again. "You can bury it in the pet cemetery by the sundial. There's room there." She set a jar of something by Sabrina and she asked what it was.

"Before it can be baptized, the temple of your body needs to be purified. Cleansed of it's toxins." Zelda explained.

"This is actually milk, eggs, and rosemary and agrimony, and a cupful of vanilla, and a pinch of John the Conquer root...tannis. Uh, and other herbs from the garden. Drink up darling."

"Don't do it cousin." Ambrose said under fake coughs.

"Ambrose." Zelda warned. "Sabrina you need to pick a familiar before your dark baptism. Th council sent the registry. I've uh, indicated a few suitable options. Now, there's a very handsome hedgehog, a noble looking owl. Vinegar Tom would happily welcome another dog."

"About that Aunt Zee." Sabrina started. "Instead of picking a familiar out of book, which is so, I don't know, dehumanizing-"

"Familiars are goblins who have taken the form of animals to better serve their witch masters. There's nothing human about them."
