"So are you taking any potions classes? Because from what I can tell you should be tutoring me." Nick said as he stood behind watching me. I sat on the floor mixing the potion he gave me in a small caldron. We had come to my smaller room where nobody would see us.
"Not yet. Though I doubt they would teach me anything at my level right now. Everyone looks down on me, like I'm just a mortal."
"Show them you're not." Nick came around and sat opposite of me.
"How?"
"You, clearly have studied a lot of material, you're lack of magic is the only thing that stops you from being a great witch."
"What are you suggesting?"
"When they try to get you tonight, and find they can't, they'll know you're not just a mortal."
"No. Just a very ungifted half breed."
"I think you have more potential then any other student here. In fact, I think we could make a good team."
"Team?"
"Yeah. You're the foundation. You know how things are supposed to be done, prepared, made. I'm the one who just says the words."
"I'll think about it. Usually I'm with Sabrina."
"How often do you help her?" I was silent for a moment.
"Never." I set my hands on my lap and looked at him. "She doesn't really involve me in things much anymore."
"Well, I'm happy to have you around."
"It's gonna cost you." I smirked at him as I finished my work. He smirked back at me and looked at the finished potion.
"You got the charm?"
"Course." I pulled it out of my bag on the floor.
"It belonged to my Aunt Zelda. Seems fitting that I use it."
"It's nice, old. It'll take to the spell well. Let's do this." He grabbed the pendant and held it by the chain over the potion. He muttered a spell before dropping into the potion. It bubbled and steamed before evaporating completely. "Go ahead." He said and I reached inside, felt for the pendant, and pulled it out. "When you go to sleep, make sure this is on you door. Prudence and her sister's won't be able to come inside."
"Thank you for your help Nick."
"Wanna test it?" He stood up and I gave him a confused look. "It's a barrier charm. If it worked, which it did, then I shouldn't be able to get in." He walked over to the door and I stood up following.
He walked out and closed the door behind him. I wrapped the pendant's chain around the door knob and waited. A few moments later I heard a thud. Opening the door I saw Nick on the floor groaning.
"Spell packs a punch." He stood up and came closer. "It works though."
"May have to keep this with me when I leave here too."
