The wind hollowed through Grey Deer gardens. Its strength kidnapped the blue irises that grew under the statue of a deer. Dark night engulfed the yard in an ominous atmosphere, which bothered one young man. His thoughtful eyes watched the storm's destruction through the window in the reading room. Where only a weak light from candles and a fireplace kept him company.
A strand of his wild black hair fell on his tan forehead. Sign escaped his lips as his calloused fingers tucked the strand back to its place. His eyes returned to the yellow page of a book but his mind didn't. Today of all days he felt out of place.
Yami Sukehiro was a magic knight found and trained by Julius. Yami didn't trust most people but he was loyal to the death, and his loyalty lay in Julius and his teachings.
A loud sound startled the young knight. A ragged branch hit the window, again and again. In the panic, it begged to be let in and saved from the storm. A cold shiver ran down his spine, the temperature dropped down in seconds. He closed the book and turned towards the dying fireplace. His arms tugged closer to the muscular body but in vain. The cold penetrated his bones with no intention of leaving. The sound of an old clock grasped his attention, he looked at it when as it struck midnight. In trance, he observed the second hand ticking in monotonous movement. Tick after tick after tick.

The base's front doors opened, letting rotten leaves inside. Muddy shoes made their way onto a white marble floor. Big water drops fell from the grey robe ends with no sound. The corridor seemed so hollow and dull to Julius. Grey light from the windows illuminated various paintings and sculptures. At the end of the corridor hung a painting of a woman. Bathed in rain's shadows, she looked down at the young Capitan with piercing eyes. He stopped and looked into them, bottomless black orbs didn't resemble the human ones. Did they always look like that? He wondered. This work of art was a mystery to him, no matter how hard he tried he could never figure out who it was and where it came from.
In the corner of his eye, he noticed yellow light hiding under the reading room's doors.

The black-haired man blinked twice as he heard the doors squeak. His breath hitched when he saw darkness from the corridor spreading in the room like a plague. Man's figure entered the room, his blond hair seemed to glow among shadows. He stepped to the light and looked at the boy. 'Ah, Yami, you not in bed? Still having problems with sleeping?' he said and smiled.
Yami opened his lips in an attempt to respond but stopped when he saw the condition of Julius' attire. His black brows narrowed, 'Is something wrong?'.
Capitan stood still and barely shrugged, 'No, why do you ask?'. Yami raised his eyebrow, 'No reason.
The older man smiled and turned to leave, 'Well then, I will go to get some sleep. You should too.'
He only nodded and watched his Capitan disappear into the shadows. The chair squeaked when he got up, his hand grabbed the book. With only one step to the door frame, he stopped and looked up at the clock. His muscular body tensed as the room become deadly silent. The old clock stopped at 3 am.
'I don't like it, at all.'
