How do you turn off embers
whose flames were burning bright?
And how do you tell the stars
to take away their light?
How do you tell the mind
to search for someone new,

How do you tell the trees,
whose roots are buried deep,
to tear apart the ground
and find their sweet release?
How do you tell desire
to bring forth its icy breath,
and turn thy fiery kisses
into a loveless death?
How do you tell the day
to stop the ache of time;
And cease the ocean currents,
from beginning to make their climb?
How do you forcibly expel
the breath within your lungs,
beg your blood to dry,
and thy heart to stop its drum?
