Chapter 4: Camping

Aphmau
"We're here." Aaron says, parking the motorhome in a clearing.

I undo my seat belt and cheer while getting out. Everyone follows, letting out a mix of cheers and groans.

"Let's get the tents set up, then we can scout the area." Cathy says.

So that's what we did.

After 4 hours, yelling, complaining, Jenny breaking a nail, and an incident where Garroth's nether regions were crushed, the tents were up.

"Who wants to go scouting?" Katelyn asks.

Nobody says a thing.

"Fine. How about, three groups of two go North, Southeast, and Southwest." Katelyn says.

"I'll go North." Aaron offers.

"I'll go with him!" Jenny exclaims quickly. Very quickly. Aaron pales.

"Jenny, how about you stay here and help set up everything else?" I say, "I'll go with Aaron."

"But-"

"Aphmau's right. You'll be more helpful here." Lucinds agrees, after glancing at Aaron.

"Fine..." Jenny sighs, sounding defeated.

"Aphmau isn't much stronger then Jenny. What's the difference if she goes instead of Jenny?" Cathy protests.

"The difference, is that Aphmau and Aaron know each other well and get along, whereas you and Aaron barely know each other." Zane retorts.

"Also, Aphmau is stronger then you may think." Vylad adds.

"Amen... anyway, how about Lucinda and I go Southeast?" Katelyn offers.

"Horrible idea. You and Lucinda will be fighting nonstop. Lucinda and Vylad can go." I say.

"Sounds good to me." Vylad says.

"Hate to say it, but your right. Very well." Lucinda sighs.

"Katelyn and Garroth can go Southwest." I say.

"Cool!" Garroth cheers. Katelyn nods, groaning.

"The rest of us will stay here and finish setting up camp." Betty says.

I nod, and we all split up.

Aaron
"Aph, you've been ranting about the same topic for 10 minutes now." I sigh.

"I have?" She turns a light shade of red, "Oops, sorry..."

I nod, and look around.

"Let's look around. We need to find a clean water source, and maybe some food." I say. She nods, and we split up to look around.

Not long after, I hear a loud squeal.

That doesn't sound good.

Quickly, I follow the noise and see Aphmau next to a river.

"What happened?!" I ask.

"Hm?" She turns, and smiles at me. "Hi Aaron! I found a river, and it's full of cute fishies!"

Oh.

Of course.

I let out a sigh of relief.

"Holy Irene Aph..." I mutter. She giggles and leans over the water.

I start to head back, when Aphmau squeals again. When I turn again, she's falling. Quickly, I rush over and pull her back over.

"Aph!" She looks a little shaken.

"Stay away from the water! You almost fell in!" I exclaim.

"Yeah, I know." Aphmau shivers, "Sorry..."

"Just... don't do that. It scares me..." I sigh.

"I'm sorry..." she mumbles.

"Let's get back to the camp and tell the others." I say. She nods. I help her stand up, and we walk back.

Aphmau
I'm not concerned that I could've gotten hurt in the water.

I'm more concerned that I almost turned into a mermaid, in front of Aaron.

I feel bad for scaring him, but explaining that, would be a lot tougher then getting me out of the water.

"Speak of the devil. Welcome back." Cathy says as we enter the camp.

"Hey..." Aaron says quietly.

"Is something wrong Aaron~kun?" Kawaii~chan asks.

"Aphmau nearly fell in a river." He sighs.

"Oh no! Are you okay?!" Betty rushes over, worried.

"Mhm! Just a little shaken." I reply, smiling. She smiles back, nodding.

"We finished setting up camp while you were gone." Jenny says. "Now we're just waiting for the others."

I nod and sit down with them on the end. Aaron sits next to me.

It's quiet, until we see Katelyn and Garroth. Both are dripping wet.

"Whoa, what happened to you two?" Cathy asks.

"I tripped." Gareoth mutters.

"And fell into a river." Katelyn adds, "Dragging me with you."

"I said I was sorry!" Garroth retorts.

"Yeah yeah. Go get changed." Katelyn says, pushing him away.

"Males tent is over there." Betty points at a blue tent. "Females is over there." She points at a pink tent with her other hand. The two split up.

Lucinda and Vylad suddenly appear. Suspended in thin air no less. They fall flat on the ground with a thump, and a pair of groans.

"I am never agreeing to teleportation again." Vylad groans.

"I'll work on it." Lucinda promises.

"Hiya!" I wave at them.

"Hey Aph.. where's Zane?" Vylad asks, looking around.

In response, the males tent opens, and Zane climbs out grumbling.

After a while, everyone settles down by the fire and we just chat. Night falls, and Lucinda starts a fire with her magic. We cook dinner, and then go to bed.
