Packing your bags was definitely not the highlight of the trip. You looked out of the window at the ocean, "I wish I could just stay here." You mumbled. You really didn't want to go back to the big city and scrounge around for cash again.
But, you've realized something in your years on this earth, life doesn't always put itself on hold for a person, and you were no exception.
You closed the suitcase and plopped on the bed, "Welp. It was nice while it lasted."
Thinking back to the little date you went on the other day made you smile, but you soon realized it probably wouldn't happen again.
There was practically no chance, he only took you out to apologize for the noise.
Yet you still kissed him in the cheek, something you almost regret. Almost. That was the closest thing you've had to any action in the last five or six years to be honest.
After your last relationship, you decided maybe the dating life wasn't for you. It's been a lot easier, that you can admit, but with practically no social life, it gets kind of lonely.
Hearing the alarm you had set on your phone, you groaned and sat up, "That's my cue I suppose."
You grabbed your suitcase and stood up before looking at the room one last time, it was a hell of a lot nicer than the shitty apartment you were staying in. But then again, this was a place people actually wanted to stay and relax. At home, it was quite the opposite, for you at least.
Your car was waiting for you in the parking lot, nothing nice really, just a p.t. cruiser that was due for a new paint job. But you got in, grabbed the keys, and started it. You didn't really like the weird sound it made but no way in hell were you going to go have some mechanic find more things wrong and screw you out of your money.
You hated that you had to leave, it was nice to just be able to relax and forget about the world around you. To be able to just cocoon in the bed and go back to sleep after waking up in the morning.
Unfortunately, that's not how life works is it?
Sitting there for a minute, you reached into your glove compartment and pulled out a pack of smokes, "One for the road." You joked, rolling down the window and lighting it.
"Thought you were trying to quit."
You jumped a bit and looked out the window to see Murdoc. Exactly how in the hell had he managed to just stroll up to your car without you noticing.
When you stayed silent, Murdoc chuckled, "Quite a piece of rubbish you got here. How much did it cost you? Few hundred? Maybe less?"
Rolling your eyes, you took another drag, "It may be a piece of 'rubbish', but it gets me from place to place. So I'm not complaining."
Murdoc nodded, "Yeah I suppose. Where you off to then?"
"Home." You mumbled, sitting back in your seat, "Can't stay here forever."
"What a shame." He said sarcastically.
You couldn't help but smile at that, usually you'd get upset at someone using that kind of tone with you. But with this guy it just seemed to be funny.
"Anyways, I gotta get going. See ya on the flip side." You joked, rolling up your window.
Murdoc just nodded and politely waved goodbye as you drove out of the parking lot. You didn't wave back.
*time skip*
It had been about three months since that vacation, and you longed to be back in that nice hotel room. You had managed to find a somewhat steady job as a bar tender just a few blocks from your apartment.
