It was dead silent as my mom drove down the highway. I feel her slight anger radiate as I try and ignore it, letting my thoughts wonder. My mom and I aren't particularly close but we mirror each other in certain ways such as our hair color, honey brown is what my dad used to say.  I always wished that I looked more like my father, like my older brother, Marcus. He is like a replica of our father. I sat there glaring out the window, lost in my thoughts as my mother drove in silence. I snap back to reality as she turns on to a long dirt road, filled with potholes. In the distance looms a light blue house.
" You know this is to fix you, Elijah" my mother said, her voice laced with disgust.
I rebutted " yeah because you care so much about me."
"You know Steve doesn't like gay people" she scoffs at me.
" So you choose your boyfriend over your own son" I said my voice rising. My mother played the silent treatment as we pulled up to the house. I got out of our car with my book bag in tow. I went to the trunk of the car and got my two suitcases out.

As my two suitcases hit the dirt, I could hear the footsteps of a man hit the stairs of the house. I glance up at my mother who's getting out of the car and the man- who looked about thirty - walking up to our little car.
He spoke before my mom could get the chance to prattle.
" You must be Mrs.  Maxwell" said the man.
" Oh please call me Cassidy, Maxwell is my late husband's name, and this is my son Elijah" my mother, told the man.
" Well as you might have guessed I'm Mr. Hunter, the owner of this place" he told us. Tuning out of this conversation I glance at my new hell and saw a blonde boy peeking out of the window.
"Your son will be in good care" Mr. Hunter told my mother  giving her a tight smile. She turned to me and said with fake sincerity" I'll miss you honey, and we will see you soon"
"Okay bye mom" I said to her vehemently.
"I'll show you to your room, then you can meet the other boys in the house" Mr. Hunter told me. Mr. Hunter grabbed one of my suitcases and started walking to the door, I didn't have much choice but to follow him. When I walked in, I noticed the silence in the house. Going up a flight of stairs, we stopped four doors down on the right. It was a brown door with my name "Elijah" written on it.
"Most of the boys are excited to meet you, but it can wait until you're done unpacking" Mr. Hunter said. Opening the door, Mr. Hunter set down my suitcase on the floor.
"Most of the boys call me Sir, however Mr. Hunter is fine too, it's up to you" Mr. Hunter told me.
"Okay well thanks" I said awkwardly waiting for him to leave. I put my bag and my other suitcase down.
" One of the boys will come get you for dinner and I would like to have a chat with you in my office afterwards" Mr. Hunter said as he walked to the door.
"Alright" I said.

Once Mr. Hunter was finally gone, I flopped on to the bed sighing taking in  my new scenery. After sitting up, I decided I should unpack. I opened one of my suitcases that was filled with books. Looking around I saw a bookshelf in the corner, and  started putting the books on the shelf. Once I was done, I started to put my clothes away in the closet, at the bottom of my suitcase sat my  giraffe stuffed animal, that my father gave me before he passed away. I put the giraffe on my end table beside my bed. After unpacking ate up hour and a half of my time I felt somewhat tired, I decided to have a nap.  Plopping  down on my bed, I  slowly let myself fall to sleep.
