At Raymon's Funeral

Travis

I parks in the parking lot in front of the church, watching people go in and I feels Jazmin's hand on mine. I breathe deeply, feeling guilty of what I said to him the last time I saw him.

Dammit, Ray.

"Baby... baby look at me."

I didn't look at her instead I shut my eyes and starts squeezing the wheel while punching it.

"I shouldn't have said that to him. Fuck!"

"Trav, it's not your fault. Please don't blame yourself. He did that to himself. You have no control of that man's body or what he was feeling."

"I feel like if I-,"

"No. Don't even say what you're about to say cause I don't want to hear it. Now, if you don't want to be here I can drive back home. Your choice."

"I need to be here to pay my respect, Jaz. It wouldn't feel right if I don't do it."

"Okay, are you sure?"

"Yeah, I am."

Jaz and I get out the car and we walks together to the funeral. I looks at her as she looks at me.

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"For coming with me."

"You're welcome. Anything for you." Jazmin slightly smiled, and she softly kissed me to calm down.

What did I do to deserve you? Got me finnah drop all my hoes for you. Shit.

We walk in and seeing that it was a closed casket.

"Damn." I mumbled.

Someone bumps into us, and it was Rocky.

"Travis?"

"Yeah, it's me man. How you been?"

We give each other a bro hug and start smiling a little.

"Good. Who is this?"

"This is my shorty, Jaz. Jaz, this is Rakim but everybody call him Rocky."

"Nice to meet you."

"Likewise."

Jaz walks to a chair and sit down so me and him could talk before the funeral actually started.

"Ray was my nigga. I wonder what made him do that."

"I don't know man. This is crazy."

"Hell yeah." He said it in a hushed tone. "I just talk to the nigga like two days after he did it. He sounded fine on phone, but you never know what a person is feeling tho."

"Yeah, you're right about that. I'll see you around."

"Okay. Hit my line, nigga."

"I will."

We all sit down in our seat, waiting for the preacher to start the funeral. Everyone was quiet, some was crying and some was trying to hold it together.

"We gather here to today for internal rest of Raymon Maddox Porter who was a loving son, cousin, uncle and brother....."

His mother start to say a few words about her son and then she broke down, making me shed a tear then her husband takes her from the stand, letting her back in her seat then he starts to speak to the microphone.

"I'm proud of you son even though I don't say it often. You will truly be in our hearts and mind. Be good up here boy. I love you son. We all do."

After the funeral, people starts hugging his family members, sending their condolences.

"I'm sorry for your loss."

"Thank you, baby. Don't be a stranger, Trav." Raymon's mother sniffled as she hugged me.

"I won't." I kissed her cheek and hugged Raymon's father.

"Take care of yourself, and stay safe."

"I will."

I walks beside Jaz, and she looks up at me.

"You're ready to go?"

"Yeah, I'm ready. Let's go." I told her as I looked back. "See yall." I waved at everybody and walked out the building then went home.

East

"Aiyla, what are you screaming for?"

"My show is on, daddy!" She smiled in happiness. "Watch it with me."

"Babygirl you know how I feel abo-,"

"Plwse, daddy." Aiyla gave me a pout face.

"Ight."

She starts singing the theme song and a few minutes into the show, someone starts calling me. It was Ace.

"Yo." I said as I answered the call.

"Something is wrong, East. Fuck!" Ace told me while hissing, sounding like he was outta breath or some shit.

I stood up and walks into the other room.

"Fuck you mean something is wrong?!"

"S-some-b-body... st-"

The phone start breaking up.

"Nigga, I can't hear you bruhh. What's going on?"

"I-..."

The line went dead, and I put my phone in my pocket.

"Shit!"

I walks to the living room and tell Aiyla to come on.

"But I'm watching m-,"

"Right now!" I yelled at her.

She gets up, and we walks outside to the car.

"Where the fuck is your mama?" I mumbled.

"I don't know." She softly spoked.

"I'ma take you to your grandma's house, and I want you to call your mama as you get inside the house."

She nods her head at me. We got in the car and waits for Aiyla to put her seat belt then I speed to her grandma's house and she gets out. I calls one of my peoples from the trap and he answers.

"Something happened to Ace, man. I don't know what. I'm tryna find him now."

"Ight. We headed out right now."

I throw my phone on the seat beside me.

"Ace, man.. please be ight."
