sofie's p.o.v
I let out a small puff of breath as I tug out my hair tie from my long blonde hair. I had finally finished work at my local Subway and began my short walk back to my shared apartment with my best friend, Bella. Before I am out the shop, my arm is taken, causing me to spin round quickly. I find myself peering into cheerful hazel eyes, causing me to smile.
"Sofie, want to like- hang out tomorrow night?" Ashton smiles shyly, itching the back of his neck.
"Sure," I smile, causing his dimples to pop out sweetly. He arranged to pick me up at my apartment tomorrow at seven and I hug him goodbye.
Ashton worked with me at Subway and he was extremely sweet. He had asked me on a few of these "dates" but I only saw him as a friend... I step out into busy Australia streets, my not-so white converse scuffing across the paved ground. My satchel bag hits my knee every so often but I ignore it as I plug in my earphones, 1975 singing to me as I make my short amount of exercise of the way home.
I make my way into the apartment, kicking my shoes to the side and throwing my bag onto the sofa. The place was the average apartment, two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room and a kitchen. I see Bella, my best friend, sat on the sofa, scroling through her phone- typical.
Bella has brown hair which wasn't pin-straight, yet it wasn't wavy, it was in between. She had almond shaped eyes which were a brown colour, kind of like her hair. I was taller than Bella by a good few inches, she had a brilliant figure and tanned skin that I envied and sometimes I wished I was kinda like her. She was a confident person and she was the friend who had loads of friends and got the boys, I was just there... the tall blonde and awkward one...
I have blonde hair which fell in the God-awful waves which people always complimented yet I never saw. My hair fell to just above my bum and was almost impossible to tame. Most of the time I kept it down or up in a bun. Nothing special was really done to it. I had bright blue eyes and a pale skin complexion which always seemed to go red whether I was embarrassed or not. I was tall and quite skinny but not like Bella...
We were both seventeen living in an apartment in Sydney, Australlia. I was working at Subway to save up for a course in college whilst Bella was working at a clothes shop not far away. I sit myself beside Bella, peering at her phone to see her snapchatting yet another new "friend" which was of the opposite gender. I roll my eyes as she shields the phone, preventing me from seeing anymore than the guy's name which was "Gabriel", I hope he's gay...
"Bella, I'm going out to buy some food, need anything?" I ask ruffling my hair slightly in the mirror and pulling on my fake Doc Martens; money was precious and I didn't have the time to find real Doc Martens. Bella dismisses me with a shake of the head and I am soon out in the Australia winter weather.
I tug my scarf closer to my neck as a harsh wind combs through my hair, my pale fingers are quick to adjust my hair. I make it into the supermarket at one of the latest hours to prevent seeing people, it's not like I don't like people-- it's just that I hated people.
I grab a basket and sling in onto my arm as I make my way through to fruit and vegetables, grabbing random things that I liked and throwing them into the basket. Bella and I had a rotor of who was doing the weekly shopping and who was doing the daily cooking. Today was my day to cook and I just wanted pizza. I bought a few fruit for our fruit bowl and then bought two oven pizzas. I make my way towards the pay area when I feel someone take the pizza out my basket.
"Hey that's my pi- Luke?!" I look up at the tall boy in front of me, dropping my basket and wrestling him into a huge bear hug.
"You haven't seen me in like a week, calm down Sof." He chuckles, hugging me back. Luke has always been like my big brother, he was always there for me in school and we had the closest bond. He wasn't very fond of Bella so he doesn't come to my apartment often...
"How have you been?" He asked, picking up my basket and leading me to the cashier.
"I've been good! How's your band?" Luke was currently starting a band with a few friends, he hasn't told me much information on our phone calls but from what I've heard they're pretty good.
"We have our first gig tomorrow! I'm so excited!" He hands me my bags and I then realised he had paid.
"Luke!" I slap his chest in protest, giving him a frown. He simply laughs, taking my hands in his and guiding me outside.
"Aren't you buying anything?" I ask, following him into the carpark.
"I saw you walking in when I was driving past." He informs me, placing my bags in the back seat and opening the door for me.
"Can't wait to start driving!" I say, doing my seatbelt as Luke starts the car.
"Baby." He teases, I slap him immediately.
"Excuse me, I'm seventeen!"
"That's one year to young." He bops my nose before driving into my apartment complex, parking the car and getting out the car.
"You coming in?" I ask, watching him take my bags.
"I'll stay for a bit, you have pizza." He smirks, combing through his quiff.
"Bella's in," I inform him, just as I twist the lock and push the door open.
Luke walks in after, just witnessing Bella take another selfie and sending it to a 'friend'. He rolls his eyes, placing the bag on the table and hanging my other bag on the hook.
"Hey Bella," he waves, causing her to sit up immediately.
"I didn't know we were having a guest." Bella sends a glare at me which I pretend not to see.
Luke helps me shove the pizza into the oven and we all sit on the small sofa to talk. Luke and I attempt to have a catch up session yet Bella keeps coming in with her comments and embarrassing me on some stories I'm trying to share.
"Do you want to come and see my band practise for our gig?"
"What time is your gig?"
"It's later, at a pub at like nine." He smirks, poking my cheek, where a dimple would be; if I had a dimple... I want a dimple.
"I'm not a baby!" I snap, causing him and Bella to laugh.
"Remember that time in school when you-"
"Bella, no." I glare, but she continues anyway, humiliating me in front of my best friend, just to make him laugh.
-*-
We had finished pizza and Luke was getting ready to leave. I give him a frown and cross my arms together. He gives me a small smile, fingers moving to fiddle with his lip piercing.
"I'll pick you up for the band practise at five?" He asks, flicking my cheek playfully.
"Sure, you still have a spare key?" He nodded, giving me a hug and leaving with a smile.
"Can I come to this band practise?" Bella pleads, giving me her best pouty lips and widening her doe, brown eyes.
"Luke only invited me, sorry." I force a smile before retreating towards the bathroom to get ready for bed.
I grab my phone, seeing it blink up with a message.
