"It was a great session today, Abby. See you tomorrow." Maria said to me as we packed up our things. Of course, it was a great session. She was not the one doing a pirouette for the past hour and a half. Please don't get me wrong. Maria is a great person and an astonishing dancer, but she needs to understand, there's only so much time that a person can stand on one foot.
"Yeah! See ya!" I said as I put my earphones on and searched for a black Camaro in the parking lot. She is late. Again. I swear one of these days would be the last day she sees the sun.
Since I have nothing better to do than wait here for my stupid friend Scarlett, I think I should introduce myself.
My name is Abigail Hope Collins and my friends call me all kinds of weird stuff. Ugh friends, right? I have been in San Francisco my whole life and I love this place dearly. My father is a cardiologist by the day and a marvelous chef by the night. My mother is a corporate lawyer by the day and a movie buff by the night. Despite their extremely busy schedules, they never even once in their life made me feel like a second on the priority list. Then there are my three socially challenged, savage friends with the same sort of mental disorder- Scarlett Robinson, Oliver Cooper, Taylor Adams.
I have known Oliver practically since I was a baby and he is like the sibling I never had. I met Scar and Taylor in the middle school and we all have been inseparable ever since. I don't think there's absolutely anything in this world that a tub of Ben and Jerry's with them cannot fix. They have been my rays of sunshine even in the cloudiest days and I love them to pieces. But one of them is going to get cut into pieces if she does not pick me up soon. My legs are already hurting as it is.
Beep beep beep beep beep.......
"Geez, lady! What's got your wand in a knot?" Yes, I am also a massive Potterhead. All thanks to my parents.
"Hello, buttercup! What are you waiting for? Come on. We are already very late. Do you want to wait for longer?" Scarlet said in a sickly sweet voice. Yep, definitely going to kill her.
I glared at her as she sat there smiling at me. God, this girl!
"Would you care to enlighten me as to why you are late, again?" I asked her as I put my seat belt on.
"Oh! I was watching the new episode of B99 and I could not just leave it in the middle. Andy would have gotten hurt if I did that." She said dramatically as I rolled my eyes. Someday, my eyes are going to shift to the back of my head because of my stupid friends.
"So you were willing to leave your amazingly astounding friend alone here just to watch B99? Oh my god. What did I do to deserve such caring friends?"
"I am sorry! Where's this amazingly astounding friend that you are talking about? Did we leave her behind?" she chuckled as the intensity of my glare increased. "You know you would not be facing this problem if you just learned how to freaking drive."
Touché! It is not like I am scared or anything but I have never felt the need to do so. I always have one of them picking me up and even my parents never refused to do drop me off anywhere.
"Yeah, whatevs!" I replied as I connected my phone and played Hope by the Chainsmokers, my latest addiction. We belted out horribly off tune as per usual. By the end of the song, we were in fits of laughter with my cheeks hurting from laughing so loud. By the time we reached home, we had destroyed three songs and I believe about 50 people must have called the mental asylum for us.
I told her about my dance practice as she got comfortable on the bar stool while I prepared some Mac n cheese for both of us. I believe cheese was just made to give people a reason to live. It is the absolute best in life. I put it in two bowls as she put on some random F.R.I.E.N.D.S. episode. Perfect!
And that's how my days go by. School, dance practice, come back home, cook something for the hungry wolves and watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S. And I am pretty content with the way it is and I would not want it any other way honestly. Little did I know, it was only a matter of time and my whole world would get turned upside down. This messed up, crazy, savage life. My twisted fate.
