"Dad I need help with my coat zip"
"Dad What if no one likes me?"
"Dad what if you get in trouble?"
"Dad why are you upset?"
"Dad why isn't mum here?"
"Don't worry kiddo I'll keep you safe. I'm not upset I'm happy. I'm very proud of you" a man hugs his child close. The little girl is frightened but her father comforts her.
"I love you dad"
"I love you too Holly" the man gave the little girl a hug and smiled "Now you go have a great first day of school"
"Bye dad!" The little girl runs into a classroom where a teacher is waiting the father waves back at the little girl as she runs.
Lee wakes up. There was a musty smell, he looked around to see his body stretched out across the sofa. He glaced at the clock. 7:34AM. "Shit" Lee got up from the sofa and went into the shower.
*2 weeks later*
Lee's eyes struggled to keep open. He was depressed. " Lee are you okay, you've been like this for weeks now?" A man with a moustache sat beside him in the teacher lounge.
"It's Lisa, she's gone for 2 months. I didn't even say goodbye because I was too angry at her" Lee looked up to see another professor, his good co-worker Mack.
"That must be rough, I don't blame you. Have you tried the phone?" Mack looked down , he felt sorry for Lee.
"Yeah, she won't pick up. At all." Lee explained twiddling his thumbs.
"I'm sure its fine, just a rough patch"
"But its always a rough patch, its just not working anymore. I still love that girl as much as I did 4 years ago when I met her just all of these new job opportunities are in the way. I've always wanted kids but she continuously says no, she just opposes everything I suggest. I even told her we could go away for a couple weeks to somewhere like Spain? She just ignored me, any normal wife would love that!" Lee picked up his coffee and took a sip.
"She can still do her job, she seems to enjoy it. She has her own life" Mack explained
"I know, but I am part of her life. Well I'm meant to be anyway!" Lee leaned forward.
A bell rings. "I'd best be off buddy, why don't you contact your brother or something? Parents?" Mack says putting down his bottle of water.
"I'll try something like that, thanks Mack" Lee pours the rest of his coffee in the sink. The steam rises from the sink. Lee sighs and goes back to lessons.
