I stood behind my bedroom door observing the white dress that hung down, I ran my fingers along the lace trying to ease the anxious pit that was developing in my stomach.
I spent my entire day yesterday learning all about the dark baptism, witches, the dark lord, high priest, the academy and I still wasn't sure if I was ready for such a big change.
I slipped my robe off and watched in the mirror as the white lace comfortably fit around my body, hugging just the right places. I honestly looked pretty damn good if you ask me.
A loud knock was heard from behind my door, I finished combing the curls in my hair and opened my door to let Sabrina in.
"Look at you" I giggle spinning her around as she flaunts her dress off, "me?" she responds, "look at you!!"
I do a small twirl of my own before we make our way downstairs, ready for our joint baptism.
"You nervous?" I ask Sabrina, flattening the top of my hair down to maintain the fly-aways. Before she can answer, Hilda interrupts.
"Well don't you girls just look lovely" Hilda grabs the both of us, giving us a squeeze and pushing us towards the door, "Its going to a long night" she says as we proceed towards the woods, she wasn't wrong.
After roughly 5 minutes everything seemed to become strangely dark and gloomy, the trees looked as if they was beckoning us further into the woods. That was until I noticed an archway just ahead, and slightly beyond that was the entire coven, ready to witness our baptism.
As we got closer a tingling sensation began at the bottom of my dress, I looked behind me at Sabrina who's dress was turning completely black and then noticed my own was doing exactly the same.
"Here goes nothing" I shrug as the archway lights up in blue flames and Zelda gives us the nod to walk through it. As I exit at the other side, I notice all eyes were on the two of us, I quickly grab Sabrina's hand as we get closer to who I assume is the high priest.
I survey the group of people around me, and particularly notice a younger boy with such a dark presence watching me so intently. I give him a slight side smile and in return he looks me up and down before winking and biting his lip. I immediately got 'bad boy' vibes from him, I'd never really been interested in his type but there was something about him that really appealed to me.
Me and Sabrina stood before the High Priest as he begins the ceremony, "Who presents these children for unholy baptism?".
Hilda and Zelda stand just behind me and Sabrina and they respond to his question, "we do your excellency".
He smirks with what appeared to be satisfaction before calling out his next demand, "disrobe them sisters". As he said this, Hilda comes up from behind me and unzips my dress, I watch as the lace slips to the floor and I step out of the heels I had been wearing. I look over the Sabrina who kneels before the priest, I copy her actions. The priest dips his finger into a bowl besides him and he draws a symbol on both mine and Sabrina's forehead with what appeared to be blood.
He speaks aloud again, "our dark Lord asks, would you like to be happy, children? To be free? Free to love, to hate, to be what nature meant you to be, true to her laws, and yourself only?"
I wait for Sabrina to respond to him first before proceeding to copy her answer, "yes father".
"Do you believe in Lucifer? The dark angel who preferred the loss of heaven to that of his pride?"
"Yes father" we simultaneously respond this time.
"In exchange for his belief, you will be granted powers that will enable you to be of service to the dark lord"
"Sabrina Edwina Diana Spellman and Mabel Lucinda Sienna Spellman, are you able to forsake the path of light and follow the path of night, wherever it may lead you?"
"Yes father"
"are you willing to place our dark lord above all others in your life? be it your loved ones, your family, your friends, your neighbours?"
"Yes father"
"Then it is time to sign his book" I felt somewhat a sense of worry coming from Sabrina, and when I looked over she didn't look 100% with it. I therefore decided to take the lead and walked up to the concrete slab.
Father Blackwood took the knife from in front of me and cut diagonally across my hand, I winced slightly at the pain but then watched as my blood dripped perfectly onto the line I needed to sign. He then did the same for Sabrina, just below where I was supposed to sign.
"In signing the book, the book of the beats you swear to obey without question any order you receive from the dark lord, or from any figure he has put in authority of you". I nodded intently, just wanting this to be over and done with already.
I looked beside me and Sabrina looked at Father Blackwood with pure rage, "thats not what you said before" she stated shaking her head.
"In signing his book, the book of the beast you swear to give you mind, body and soul unreservedly to the furtherance of the designs of our lord satan" The High Priest continued, he then placed the quill pen into my hand and watched as a signed my name in the Book of the Beast.
After I had signed my name Sabrina spoke again, "you said I would have freedom".
She took the pen from my hand and as she was about to sign her name just below mine she looked ahead of her, in shock. "I can't do this" she cried.
Father Blackwood looked at her in disbelief, "you must" he urged picking the pen that she dropped back up for her.
Sabrina shook her head, not really paying attention to what the High Priest was saying to her, the next thing I can remember was Sabrina sprinting into the woods, everyone following her, and I was left all alone not understanding what on earth had just happened.
I stood, staring straight ahead of me not able to move and in complete shock.
"What on earth just happened" I question, finally turning my body around.
I scream slightly as the same boy from earlier stood in front of me. He was a lot taller than I had originally thought towering a good foot above me, and he was also a lot hotter."
A slight smile appears across his face before he talks, "your cousin, Sabrina, she has broken her promise to the dark lord." I sigh knowing full well something had to go wrong.
"Why haven't you gone with the rest of them?" I ask, wondering how someone could be so attractive.
"I couldn't leave a vulnerable young girl out here in the woods all by herself could I? Especially when she's wearing close to nothing" He points down to the lingerie I had chosen for my baptism with a big smirk plastered across his face.
I feel my cheeks heat up as notice my lack of clothes, "Here, take this" the young boy hands me his long black coat, I thank him as I wrap the fabric around my body.
"Sorry, I never got your name" I ask, slipping back into my shoes as we proceeded to walk back to the Spellman's home.
"Im Nicholas, Nicholas Scratch."
