CHAPTER FIVE.
irena stuffed three pairs of clothes into her small duffel bag, as she had been doing for the past week. satisfied, she left her and danny's bedroom and went to the door to leave.
"i'm going, danny!" she called, and opened the door.
"where?" he called from the living room. she tried her best to ignore the smell of cheap alcohol and the loud sound of the tv.
irena readjusted the bag on her shoulder as danny appeared in front of her. "maya's."
danny frowned. "again? why?"
she shrugged, struggling to think of a good excuse. finally, she came up with, "she's going through a rough patch. she's been really sad lately."
and he believed her. danny smiled. "you're such a good friend, baby. i love you."
irena blinked at him, suddenly feeling guilty. she did love him.. but she'd fallen in love with him a long time ago, and he'd changed. she didn't want to leave him, but then she remembered that he'd broken her arm and realized she needed to.
